colebrook22
I have known her for over 15 years. We went to school together, and we have been friends since. We have always hung out together, gone out together, and spent alot of time together. Nothing has ever happened between us. But recently, I noticed that I was feeling awkward when I was alone with her. I couldn't put my finger on it, but I knew something was off. Then I started thinking about her during the day, more and more. Now I feel weird just dropping her an emial, or a text. This has gotten crazy. I don't want to do or say anything to put our friendship at risk, but I feel that if I don't say something, she is going to pick up on this "weird" vibe that I feel like I am putting off. Then things will really feel strange. Has anyone had to deal with a crush on a long time friend, and how did you deal with it?
jerbear
It just happens sometimes. The friendship is always at stake when it comes to those feelings. If you can't hold the feelings tell her that you are interested in her and that you two would work on the friendship if the relationship fails. If one of your disagrees to moving forward, then one of you has to put the friendship on hold and take the time to let those feelings go.

Author colebrook22
No, the divorce had nothing to do with her. She was there for me as a friend and was very supportive through the whole thing though.

It's probably not a "crush," my friend, it most likely is real, genuine love. People who fall in "love" after knowing somebody only a short time are falling in love with their perception of that person. You've known the lady for FIFTEEN YEARS, know her better than you could know just about anybody, and are now having feelings knowing all you know. That's love, no mistake about it. If she develops feelings too, you've got something people rarely find. TRUE LOVE...love based on total acceptance based on real knowledge of a person and not an illusion. Congratulations. You are a lucky man, especially if the feelings are returned.
