Hi

I would like to get some advise. Married for 2 yrs now but we know each other since quite a few years. We love each other and we do need each other but my W stays away from my parents and brother. She neglects them since we had a lot of trouble during our marriage. I have told her on multiple occasions that they are an important part of my life but she does not listen. My family does not interfere in our life. She does not abuse them but she does not even try to bond with them. I will love to have kids but she keeps telling me that my parents will stay away from my kids and she does not want my family to influence them....

Help !!! This is causing me lot of distress and thoughts of getting out of marriage before having kids.

Thanks

Any comments appreciated!

Hi

Thanks for your reply. yeah I have asked her specifically and she says she does not like my mothers actions so she wants to keep her at a distance. My family has accepted her as my wife and I don't see why she should not accept my family.

What actions about your mother is it that she doesn't like? Can you provide a bit more information?

Is there anyway for you both to seek counselling together to try to work this issue out, if you are unable to do so together?

Hi

Thanks for your reply. My parents are involved in a religious group and we don't want to be a part of it so my wife thinks our children will be under pressure if they are exposed to it. Also she has gone through a lot of issues during our marriage but I stood by her. I don't think we have reached a stage of counseling yet since we are good together otherwise but she gets defensive as I said before whenever we talk about my family. I would like to get suggestions on how to deal with this issue if any of you have gone through this. I am not willing to alienate my family because of this.

Thanks
