heatherd1201
Ok, so I dont know if anyone has talked about this yet but there is this song out right now. Its by Sugarland (country music) and its called "Stay". Now I dont exactly condone being the OW...BUT when I listened to this song my heart just ached for those of you who are. Its a song about the OW and she is just begging him to stay with her and not go back to his wife...... You should listen to it. I think that it is a very good representation of how you must feel. Just thought I would put that out there for you. If anyone listens to it letme know what you think....

Wow.... since no one else has, I'll warn everyone before they watch that video. Don't watch it at work, or anywhere else where you might be embarrassed when a tear rolls down your cheek.... Pardon me while I go blow my nose....
Tomcat33
Sorry to say and I mean no disrespect to anyone it's just what I feel when I hear the lyrics to this song, it is VERY pathetic. Here is this woman begging for a man to take her and complaining about how lonely she feels and how used she feels yet she does nothing to change that, she sits there by the clock begging for him to come and lift her spirits. Bleeechhh, sorry but those lyrics are super depressing and make women sound very pathetic. It's a peice of artwork written to please the masses, it makes the OW sound pathetic so that people can tollerate the lyrics given the nature of the topic.

Intellectually I agree with you. But we aren't talking about reason here. We're talking about feelings. You may be right that it was written to appease the masses. They're out to make money after all. But if you think there aren't a lot of women (OW) out there, and not only "out there", but on this very board, that will identify VERY strongly with that song, you're gravely mistaken. You are obviously very smart, strong, and together as a person. Not everyone else is. I was touched by it, I'm really sorry you weren't.

I'm sorry I find that song pathetic, am I not entitled to my opinion? Or am I supposed to like it and feel a connection just because other people do? If I tell someone I LOOOVE the Boston Celtics, and someone says to me they suck! Why would I take that personally? I could care less, they will still be my fave team. reboot
Why are you atacking me personally? That was not meant as an attack. It was meant as a compliment if anything, albeit a left handed compliment as we say here. Sorry you took it that way.

Passionate69
In my opinion the song is very deppressing. it's sounds like the woman is very pathetic force herself to a man who din't love her real.
reboot
The song is what's known in the industry as a "tear jerker". It's supposed to be depressing. It's supposed to elicit an emotional response. And it worked on me.
Tomcat33
Yeah I guess you are right, country songs are supposed make the protagonist sound pathetic. It was usually about "she left me and took the farm and my heart too" now it is about waiting by the phone for a taken man. Sign of the times I suppose...

She says that she cant take it anymore and now she has the will and shes getting up off her knees. That the next time his wife begs him not to leave he should jut stay. Because he cant give her what she needs. Yes, it does sound pathetic that she is begging this man and waiting by the phone.......but she "gets it" in the end. Have you never had someone leave you and you cry and wait by the phone just in case? You love them terribly and you just cant get over them? Is a woman who experiences that pathetic too? As I said before I am not condoning "being the other woman". I can just feel for a person who falls in love with someone that they cant have to themselves.

White Flower
Oh right, it's what I call a "compli-sult" thanks I guess That's cute! I think I'll use that one from now on. My cousin told me about this song just yesterday and wants me to listen to it because "it makes me think of you." Jeez.....I hope she doesn't see me as pathetic. I guess I gotta go and listen to it...
White Flower
OK, I listened to it at myspace, but could not find the video. It is heart-felt, but I'm not going to choose it as my myspace song. MM would think I was begging him and I'm not going to have that! I wonder if he thinks of me when he hears it like my cousin does? Hope not.

Reboot I must admit this is a surprise. I haven't sensed a lot of ... uh, warmth in your posts until this one. To have a song like this get to you, after everything you've been through. Wow! You DO have a big heart. Not that this matters (given that I am a complete stranger posting on an anonymous public forum) - but my estimation of you has just shot up a considerable number of notches. KATANYA
Simplegirl posted this song back in August and there has been many references to it since that time on different threads.......Simplegirl's post is below: song I have found a lot of meaning to this song for me so I thought I would share it. It's by Sugarland called "Stay." I been sittin' here staring At the clock on the wall And I been layin here praying Praying she won't call It's just another call from home And you'll get it and be gone And I'll be crying And I'll be beggin you baby Beg you not to leave But I'll be left here waiting With my heart on my sleeve Oh for the next time we'll be here Seems like a million years And I think I'm dying What do I have to do to make you see She can't love you like me Why don't you stay I'm down on my knees I'm so tired of being lonely Don't I give you what you need When she calls you to go There is one thing you should know We don't have to live this way Baby why don't you stay You keep telling me baby There will come a time When you will leave her arms And forever be in mine But I don't think that's the truth And I don't like being used And I'm tired of waiting It's too much pain to have to bare To love a man you have to share Why don't you stay I'm down on my knees I'm so tired of being lonely Don't I give you what you need When she calls you to go There is one thing you should know We don't have to live this way Baby why don't you stay I can't take it any longer But my will is getting stronger And I think I know just what I have to do I can't waste another minute After all that I've put in it I've given you my best Why does she get the best of you So the next time you find You wanna leave her bed for mine Why don't you stay I'm up off my knees I'm so tired of being lonely You cant give me what I need When she begs you not to go There is one thing you should know I don't have to live this way Baby why don't you stay Yeah yeah oh oh oh oha oh
