reboot
Reboot I must admit this is a surprise. I haven't sensed a lot of ... uh, warmth in your posts until this one. To have a song like this get to you, after everything you've been through. Wow! You DO have a big heart. Not that this matters (given that I am a complete stranger posting on an anonymous public forum) - but my estimation of you has just shot up a considerable number of notches.Thank you. It matters. I guess I'm surprised too. Surprised that there are people out there that don't get a tear in their eye when they see something like that. I guess that means there are folks even more bitter than I am. What a hard, hard heart they must have.

What a hard, hard heart they must have. I saw the video and all she did was singing and well, crying. That made me cry. Is there a different video? I would definitely cry buckets if the video were drama-like. As for the song, I just can't relate to it cause I don't beg for no man to stay. I told my BF don't expect me to beg him in staying if he didn't want to anymore.
luvmy2ns
You know, I appreciate all types of music, being a musician, and it just irks the hell out of me when someone stereotypes any kind of music. So trite, the comments about "my dog's been shot and my wife left me" kind of crap. That's been done to death. Get some new material, wouldya? EnnnnnEEwaayyy.... I was on the phone with a good friend the night of the Country Music Awards, and he was telling me about this song and how he could see me playing it on my guitar and singing it; it's totally in my range. Right after that, they mentioned the upcoming performers after the commercial break, and it was Sugarland doing this tune. When I listened to it, I so thought of many of the OW's on this forum; that I wished they would get this gal's attitude and tell their MM of many years to take a hike. Many of you are getting nothing but leftovers in a years long waiting game.

People here keep using the word 'pathetic' to describe it. I guess if getting hurt by someone you love is pathetic, then I'm pathetic too. *shrug*

I think what's pathetic is if you cry day and night, not eating... begging for that person to come back to you or stay with you... doing all that and even after that person tells you over and over again NO.... than that is pathetic. I don't think a lot of people here are like that.

"Is getting hurt pathetic or just natural?" I do get hurt but I guess when I allow it to linger for too long to where I don't get anything done then I'm being pathetic? Food for thought. I like how she empowers herself at the end of the song, though. She gets tired of waiting and tells him to stay home.

That's what I meant in my other post. I have been in that place where I allow it to linger and took over me - I felt sooo pathetic and even more knowing that at that time, my ex was out and moving on. I chose to not to be that pathetic anymore because it wasn't healthy and it sure didn't make me a better person. I got over that and I am sooo happy I did!

What a hard, hard heart they must have. No, you can't assume that. (Well, you CAN, but I think you'd be wrong!) Each of us is an incredibly complex set of neurons with our own unique life experiences. So it's only natural that a "taking the farm" song would drive some to tears and just leave others cold. IMO it has nothing to do with how hard or soft their heart is.
Woggle
This reminds me of why I hate country music. Nashville is truly the armpit of the music world.

Woggle
Ouch, Woggle! :D It's true. I actually don't mind some old country music like Wille Nelson and Johny Cash because it was gritty and soulful but this new crap that they push is just horrible. I can't believe people actually like it.

It also instills traditional values as much as it portrays the broken heart.
stillhere
The first time i heard this song, i cried like a little baby. I was on my way to visit my MM, and i wanted so bad to tell him to turn on the radio because i knew he would have it off. I knew he'd hear it sooner or later, so i didn't mention it to him. My MM, like myself, only listens to country music, so when we were together one day, this song came on. He asked me to please turn it off. I asked why. He had said that he can't stand her voice in this song. I asked if it was her voice, or the song? I know he's not a huge fan of hers, but i know that this song really bothers him and he knows it bothers me. I suppose he was trying to avoid another argument, he just wanted to enjoy our time together. He knows the ending of the song will be our ending some day if he doesn't get his butt in gear. Is that why so many of the songs are about getting drunk and cheating on your spouse? If people look to country music to instill values they are in trouble.

White Flower
Wow, Reboot. I'm sorry. Have things improved? Should we take this convo to another thread? Thanks for finding it. I actually saw the thread, but posted by another member, so didn't read it. It was a touching story and so was Cobra's. I need to talk to him about his mother issues:)
Onelife
Talking about songs, how about Lips of an Angel by Hinder. Though I am now an xOW but I cannot help but feeling so emotional when I hear this one. Especially the part "Well, my girl's in the next room Sometimes I wish she was you I guess we never really moved on". Here is the full song: Lips Of An Angel Honey why you calling me so late? It's kinda hard to talk right now. Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay? I gotta whisper 'cause I can't be too loud Well, my girl's in the next room Sometimes I wish she was you I guess we never really moved on It's really good to hear your voice say my name It sounds so sweet Coming from the lips of an angel Hearing those words it makes me weak And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel It's funny that you're calling me tonight And, yes, I've dreamt of you too And does he know you're talking to me Will it start a fight No I don't think she has a clue Well my girl's in the next room Sometimes I wish she was you I guess we never really moved on It's really good to hear your voice say my name It sounds so sweet Coming from the lips of an angel Hearing those words it makes me weak And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel It's really good to hear your voice say my name It sounds so sweet Coming from the lips of an angel Hearing those words it makes me weak And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel Honey why you calling me so late? What I want to know is why you identify with this song so strongly... Is it the fact that you were once forced to share somebody? Oh, and those who guard thier hearts jealously, often have hearts that are more easily broken!
