Sunblast
Are there LS users who have used cocaine recreationally? Have you gotten addicted (no control) or could you stop?
Ocean-Blue
Are there LS users who have used cocaine recreationally? Have you gotten addicted (no control) or could you stop? spookie
TBH I've tried it. I did it about 5 times in a one-month period. Then I realized that, even though I wasn't feeling "addicted", it was a dumb thing to "experiment" with. So I stopped.
sb129
Yes, and while I quite enjoyed it, I have exactly the kind of addictive personality that could enjoy it too much if you get my drift. Not to mention I could lose my job if I ever got caught with it.
Pyro
Are there LS users who have used cocaine recreationally? Have you gotten addicted (no control) or could you stop? I went on a "binge" for a few months, but I stopped myself when I could no longer afford it.
Woggle
I sniffed a couple lines once in the same night and never had the desire to do it again. I have been around enough addicts to know that drugs do nothing positive for you except maybe weed.
sb129
I can see how loaded but bored people can get addicted so easily...... I couldn't afford a long term habit. In some industries it is rife, and unfortunately it can turn people into a-holes.
polywog
I've used it twice. The first time was exquisite. Thank god it wasn't around the house because I thought about it constantly after that. I know I'd have been one of those people who would say "I'll just do it right now for the heck of it, but I don't need it, really:p" and would have kept using & saying that to myself if it was around until I became a total addict. The second time was when I was suffering from anxiety attacks and was utterly miserable. It was offered to me and I did it so I could have some reprieve from my misery. Well, it was Horrible. It just made everything worse and I was a shaking mess until it wore off. I believe that it was cut with something awful, by the way. This turned me off in a big way. I vowed never to do it again, and I haven't. Besides I'm a cheapskate so I was never tempted to buy.... both times it was just given to me. To this day, though if I accidentally rub my nose after cutting a hot pepper and get that weird numb feeling I think about that first incredible time like it's been wired into my system, and it scares the h**l out of me. melodymatters
yeah, went to college in south Florida and it was all over the place. I'm already a pretty hyper person, I prefer things that mellow me out, so I never got hooked, but knew LOTS who did.
sb129
Things that mellow me out tend to make me want to go to sleep. Alcohol is the worst, and it makes me really sick if I have more than a small amount. Which is good, because I don't think I could ever build up a tolerance enough to become and alcoholic. If cocaine was legal (and apparently there was an article in the paper last week that addicts get it free on the NHS) and cheaper, I could see myself getting addicted really quick. Just as well huh. sb129
I know a few doctors who are the worst drug experimenters I have ever met. Wierd huh. And ironically, they are one of the professions who SHOULD have mandatory drug tests but they don't, as they are some of the worst abusers and if they introduced tests, half the workforce would disappear. EXACTLY ! In my bad ol days in Manhatten I lived in the famous Chelsea Hotel where I tried snorting heroin. Now THAT, I felt like I COULD get addicted too, so I stopped asap and moved to LA ! And I LOVE to drink

I LIKE drinking, it just doesn't like me very much. Heroin is one thing I would never ever touch. A) because I used to work with junkies and they scared the sh** out of me. B) because I think I would like it, and that also scares the Sh** out of me.

polywog
What positive things could weed do for an individual? I'm not a weed user, but when I did do it moderately a while back I truly found it to expand my consciousness. I'm not sure it would work this way for everyone, but I used to smoke and listen to music. It slowed down time and made me have a different spacial relationship to sound, music... and it's changed the way I experience music to this day. And I was super sensitive to music before that.... moreso now because of the weed thing. How 'bout that?

It does effect everyone in a different way, so it may be positive for some, but for others like myself, it made me paranoid and unmotivated. The only good that came out of it was what I learned about life and such during those years.

Yeah, my last LTR which brought me here to LS (guess I can thank him for that!) was a major pothead, tho he denied it. He was really quite numbed out emotionally from it, IMO. And I think he used it for that, for an escape. Anything that intoxicates us is a double edged sword. I think that there is something useful sometimes to these altered states, but more often I think that substances that do this become an escape mechanism. Some book I read in a college anthropology course years ago stated that there are no human societies that Don't use medication to alter us. This includes caffeine, alcohol, etc. etc.... things both legalized and not. I'm not sure if this is true, it was just this author's opinion, but it's an interesting theory. spookie
What positive things could weed do for an individual? It affects people in different ways, and I am torn on this regarding myself (I say as I load my bowl:love:). On the one hand, at my lowest, if I have weed I can at least motivate myself to get out of bed, into my car, to school, to work, etc. For me, it serves the function of an anti-depressant when I need it, in that it allows me enough comfort to get through the day. I don't view that as a negative thing, either. I may be self-medicating, but weed is less addictive or potentially harmful than a lot of what is out on the market. Of course music is wonderful, food is wonderful. But on the other hand, I become incredibly introverted and incapable of feeling happiness for the present or future, when I'm "high" (which I think is a term because, once you get past recreational usage and develop any kind tolerance, it isn't "high" anymore as much as "stoned", and much more subtle). Anyway when I'm stoned I'm also incredibly self-reflective and harsh on myself, which pushes me deeper into introversion but also allows me to keep focused on the important things in my life. I'm also even more unfeminine than usual and fail to respond to social cues, which makes me even more awkward.

May just be a coincidence, but when I was smoking daily, it really did limit my emotions as well. Good thing I didn't have a GF at the time.
Storyrider
I haven't done any illegal drugs in over fifteen years. But back in the day... Weed also made me paranoid. It was never my thing, except I did enjoy it once in a while during sex. It made me better able to block out external stimuli and my inhibitions, or that voice that said, "You're doing it wrong." I think I did cocaine maybe twice. Once before a Robert Plant concert, and then one other time. It made me feel like they always say, on top of the world and like I was Superwoman. That lasted for about 45 minutes, and then I came down and wanted more. I could see where that pattern would take me, so I never really pursued it. But, yes, I'm all about speediness. That is what I crave. And back in those days nobody was doing crystal meth or crack. People I knew just snorted lines of methamphetamine. That could have become very habit forming if I hadn't grown up and into other things, not to mention eventually marrying someone who had never even smoked a joint and got really upset when I did. I have been drug free ever since.
