LoveLace
Roommates been in inpatient rehab 4 days now. The night before I took him, he smoked up all the crack he had left; before that it was locking himself in his room daily, for hours at a time, along with binge drinking almost every night after work. Before taking him he had his 2 last vodka drinks at dinner. He hasn't been able to call yet, apparently. He was able to admit himself right away, but I'm sure he had to start with de-tox 1st? I'm dying to know what he's going through. Is he probably still having withdrawal and how bad could it be? When might he be able to call someone finally? I know he's in good hands now; but I'm very curious about exactly what's happening, what's going to happen...has anyone been through this or know someone else who has? Thanks. Always Wrong
Food, plenty of water/coolaid to drink... lots of intake paperwork. He wont get to talk to a counselor until he sobers up... 3 to 5 days. If he's withdrawing from alcohol or opiates, there are drugs to help him. If he's coming down from crack/coke or some sort of meth, the detox is more psycological than physical. Hope that helped.

There is no detox for crack/cocaine....in between 72 and 96 hours, it will be out of his system, but not his brain....that'll take a good 6 mo. to a year... Crack/cocaine is a mental addiction with physical urges due to brain wiring....if an addict drives by a crack house, sees a piece of crack, smells someone smoking crack, they will be so tempted to smoke, they will be jumping out of their skin.
