I went to the website and it redirected me to some other site. They made me fill out a really brief questionnaire and then called me to meet with them. Apparently they have a really high success for their members, catering only to professionals and performing background chek. Long story short, they called me in for a one-on-one interview last night and ended up telling me that their most basic membership cost $2,200. They said it was a one time thing until the time you get married (they can verify marriage because it's a legal union and there's a paper trail). The price is not bad considering they weed out the riff-raff, but I said that I needed some time to think about it and they told me that once they offer membership, they don't do it again. Has anyone here ever come across one of these companies? I'm tempted to do it and I was this close to paying for it, but I'm closing on a house at this end of this month and I'm still nervous about it. I don't know Loveshack's policy on naming companies, but I'd really like to find out if there are more like it out there in case they really keep their word and don't offer me membership in the future. The price doesn't seem too unusual. I paid $3000 to a dating service back in the early 90s. Taking into account inflation, $2200 is a bargain. Of course, they can promise anything until you've paid them. There's no way of knowing what the real situation is until it's too late. If they don't provide any of the services they promise, it's just your tough luck. I find the "once they offer membership, they don't do it again" thing to be a major red-flag, though. I've never heard of that kind of sales manipulation before. I used many of them and think you can date good people if you just learn the ropes some.. You have to figure out how not to waste your time and to cut thru all the garbage on those sites... That just takes a month or so.. Lets see.. $2200.. that is over 5 years of membership on match.. I'll tell you what.. I'd go with the online fist.. learn the ropes and save you some heartache parting with all that money only to find out that you still have to try match or some online dating service. Star Gazer Posted January 4, 2008 Share Posted January 4, 2008 I knew it was GE you were talking about! I don't believe it's a as-long-as-it-takes membership though for the basic cost. It's my understanding it's that price for only the first year. One of my good friends did this (for a year) and went on 5 dates for the entire year because the service couldn't find anyone "worthy" of her (she's attractive, funny, successful, etc.). Also, it's my understanding that most of the people who use the service are older (45+), presumably because they have more money and are more invested in finding someone...
