How do you handle your religious beliefs in an affair?

Recommended Posts

I don't understand quantam physics. I've been told that light acts as both a particle and a wave.

All I "know" is that I can see when the light bulb is turned on. Anything else, I have to take on faith.

You don't have to understand Quantum physics, all you need to do is turn the light switch on to know that what ever happens from the switch to the buld produces light! You have the clear proof infront of you that from A to B something is taking place in order to produce B. Very different analogy from me telling you, "if you hold a plain light buld to your head you can turn it on." Surely you will say to me "ok, let's see"

If you take my word for it then I have a free standing wall that can be purchased for the very low price of $3,000 and free standing walls are a hot new commodity that every human being should have.

If you have ever heard or seen a black and white cat that types and has expression as a human being, then I am sure I could entertain that thought even for a second.

And just because I have been known to get "catty" at times here on LS, that does not a cat make me!! Though if I were a cat, a black and white one would totally be my first choice.

Then again I don't believe in UFO's or Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, either but who knows maybe they are out there.

C'mon OWL!!!

But TC...I don't KNOW anything that tells me you really exist. I don't KNOW that there isn't a sapient, black and white cat out there somewhere that loves to post on LS. It doesn't seem likely...but then again, neither does a platypus.

Do you KNOW that I exist? Never met me, never seen me, never touched me...how do you know I'm here at all?

anyone who wishes to challenge me that we do things right only for the sake of others, is not being true to themselves. We do things according to how it makes US feel, the excuse that we do right for others is not true because if that were the case if something made another feel good but it made us feel terrible we would not do it, period.

I agree with this 100%. I can honestly say that I know I would never have an affair because I know myself enough to know that "I" could never do it because of how it would make "ME" feel. The reason I would feel so bad is because of how that choice would hurt so many others and I wouldn't be able to live with the fact that my choice had such a negative impact on other human beings.

Other than the most important fact that I love my husband and have no reason to want to have an affair, I could not find any man that would have sex with me (a married woman) remotely attractive enough to even have a friendship with much less sex.

I don't live my life in guilt, because I do repent and ask forgiveness. And I have faith in God will afford me many opportunities to see his kingdom.:)

Me too, and I was an OW and I don't feel bad about what I did. Yet I am wrong and you are right, according to you ofcourse...

You're absolutely right...I don't have to "know" what light is to know it exists. I just have to look at how it affects others. Like gravity...can't see it, smell it, touch it...but it keeps my feet stuck to the ground.

Wow...kinda like God in a way. I can't see Him, touch Him, or in any other way know he exists...except by observing His affects on everything else.

CLASS DISMISSED!

For all I know the history books are full of fairytales and wishes. For all I know all the diseases that "they" say people die from are just experiments gone wrong. All I know, the this site and others are full of people who are so bored with the real world that they sit around and make up these lies to entertain themselves.

I don't live my life in guilt, because I do repent and ask forgiveness. And I have faith in God will afford me many opportunities to see his kingdom.:)

Sorry, I tried to edit too late. I meant to say for all I know , this site and others like are full of people who are ................

Well I know that you exist yes I do know that much, I may not know who or what sex you really are but I know that you exist.

You are not a ghost or a figment of our imaginations, you are.

Not so fast Mr OWL the recess bell hasn't rung just yet!

I actually said you DO have to know what light is to know it exists. If you didn't see light you would dismiss Quantum physics all together. If you don't understand it seeing light I can only imagine your reaction if you had never seen light before.

But I agree that sometimes you don't have to see something to believe in it, I'll give you that much.

Me too, and I was an OW and I don't feel bad about what I did. Yet I am wrong and you are right, according to you ofcourse...

Where did I say you wrong? I said that you didn't follow his guidelines. But since you don't believe in him, why should you follow those guidelines?

I also didn't say I was right. I said I didn't cheat. But have I lied, treated someone the way I wouldn't want to be treated, stole something(as a child and I cheated on my taxes a couple of times:eek:) Have I had the sin of pride and of judging others? You bet ya. But when I learn better, I do better. I try to never repeat something that I have been forgiven for. And if I do, I again pray and ask God to show me the way to not do this again and to help me be a better person. I do that by not just reading but studying his word and learning form my sins. If I don't know I ask someone who is more knowledgeable than I am and then I research more.

You and I are the same. We both are humans who sin. Different sins and some the same, but we both sin. We might handle our sin differently or learn different life lessons, but we are the same.

I think that this is ture in all areas where people are anonymous (and sometimes not so anonymous). I believe that here are a number of people here who are not who they say they are. I also think that after a while you can determine who those people are because they are the ones who become inconsistent in their posts.

For example if an OW posted that she is 45 and then the following week she is 55, that would put everything else she says in question. So, with those posters, I take what they say with a large grain of salt.

It looks like you did here:

I have no reason to doubt you are sincere and earnest in what you believe. It doesn't mean that what you believe is right

What I believe is right for me, so how can you not believe it isn't right?

Well, I guess that would explain it. If that's the case, is there a way that I can move to her planet and get it to spin the other way?

My faith in the Lord is part of the guilt. I know God loves me and He has kept me so I just know I let God down, again! And yes, I know that God gives us "free will"...I'm not holding God accountable for my own actions...I'm a child of God and I want to do and be a better person because of MY FAITH IN GOD.

This is where you need to be. You understand that God has provided you the information and wisdom to know what is right and what is wrong. Don't pay attention to how fools interpret it. Go straight to the source with eyes, ears, and heart open. Then you will know what to do.

We all fail at times. It's what happens after we fail that really determines the strength of our faith.

I believe that though God forgives, I still must be accountable for what I do.

I HEAR YOU!!!!

If you identify with GEL... you should pay special attention to the response.

This isnt about simply doing right or wrong. There is no expectation for perfection... and I think your both missing that point.

It's about what you strive to be.

Technically, you can't see light. Example...on a totally dry, clear night...go out in the field, hold the brightest flashlight you own above your head and shine it up into the sky. If there is no moisture in the air, and no clouds for the light to shine on...you'll see nothing. The light is travelling through that space above your head into the sky...but unless it impacts something, you can't see it. What you actually see is light's reflection or refraction in objects. Even when you look 'at the light'...you only see what's impacting your eyes. The 'particle or wave' itself is invisible as it travels through space.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for fun.

From what I get, GEL is what she strives to be. Maybe we don't get how someone can be happy living GEL's life, but she says she is, so without any other information, I have no reason to try and convince her otherwise. I also realize that her choices have nothing to do with me or my personal moral code. That doesn't stop me from voicing my opinion about the issue. Some of the best insight on life comes from talking to people that have different views.

Actually, not a bad idea. Lets have even more fun. Take a look at this idea:

You're all just argumentative bits of my own mind, and exist for no other reason than because I SAY SO!!!

OWL during an eclise there is also no light, would you also argue the sun does not produce light?

I will make sure to remember to use this light argument when someone says something to the effect that affairs are fantasy and not real, because afterall just because you can't see certain things it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Right?

C'mon you don't even believe what you are saying..
