Let’s put numbers into play here. Assuming things go successfully with me and him. His wife is now out of the picture. Let’s assume his net worth for the sake of this scenario is 50 million. His wife takes half in the divorce. Boom his net is down to 25. Legal fees will probably run into a million or more. Let’s say a million. He is now down to 24. Him and I grow it up to 100 million for a net gain of 76 million (without inflation being factored in). If we split up, he would be loose 38 million. Under Canadian law, I am only entitled to what is gain during the marriage not before. His total net worth is now 62 less a couple million for legal fees for a total of 60. Now if I factor in inflation, the 60 is more like 30 in today’s dollars. Obviously, this is a simple model that does not take into account other factors but I think you get the gist. As for prenups, they cover prior assets and a mechanism for future settlements for house keeping purposes. But since I intend to be both an emotional and life partner to him along to being a business partner, this business partner element will negate the more draconian aspects of the future settlement mechanism inherent in prenups.

Say what you want about Canada but we have wonderful progressive laws here. After our Supreme court legalised gay marriages, various feminist lawyers are working on denuding completely the traditional concept of binary marriages. Two prominent lawyers hired by the govt not too long ago came out and recommended in their studies to abolish the traditional definition of binary marriages and replace it with ploy marriages.

 

There was a case in BC, the Bountiful Colony case, where the provincial govt drop prosecuting the polygamous leaders under existing laws due to the fact they may lose due to a Charter of Rights challenge under the religious freedoms section. You see, Muslims in their native countries have multiple wives. One day, our illustrious Supreme court justices will throw the traditional binary marriage in favour of a poly one. Why in the world would he wait 25 years? Isn't a good businessman always sensitive to opportunities? Certainly you control your product, but just like driving a car off the lot immediately depreciates it, once he owns the new cow, it certainly won't take 25 years for the milk out in the pasture to start looking pretty tasty. And what you don't control are the opportunities out there for him to peruse as he's driving around in his Ferrari, attracting the stares and attentions of other young, pretty, ambitious business majors - kinda like you used to be, back in the day.

Ah, so basically, you hope he will leave his wife and ultimately come to you, but that after doing that, you expect he will feel sufficiently trapped by his situation with you ("the financial penalties coupled with his station...") that he won't do it again. Why would it work one time and be prevented the next?

If he does low level programming languages like Assembler, or a higher level like C, he should have the requiste brain power to figure it out. (Why are so many Asians into computers and math??? Ah, another question to ponder.)
