Why do you want to send that message to him - that you "seem interested" in him? It immediately puts you at a disadvantage. There is no good way to "introduce yourself and seem interested" to a man. Just go on about your business. He'll have to work to get YOUR attention. As much as I hate it, this is the way it works with men.
