Melovator
Okay, so I'm going speed-dating tomorrow, was originally going with a friend, who pulled out after I bought my ticket, I thought "bugger it, this falls under the 'do one thing every day that scares you' Eleanor is my hero philosophy I'm trying to cultivate in my life. I'm determined to have a good time! Which I will because I'm determined I will. At the very least I'll have something to laugh about whether it be myself or other people... Anyway, any advice- I've already had: 1) be yourself (Well who f**k else am I going to be?) 2) don't wear red unless you want to intimidate guys or just get asked for sex? (huh?) 2) Don't sleep with anyone (Well duh!) 3) Don't drink too much (Again, duh!) 4) Take the girls out for a ride (ie reveal some cleavage- they're my best asset! they're not going to be right on display, but all my current wardrobe options mean they will be present). Anything else? I'm not looking for a life partner I just figure that I need to learn about dating and I'm tired of penises being shoved at my face online. So I'm looking for dates, not a soul mate. Have to point out that I swear much more on LS than I do in real life.
Mary3
I've never done Speed Dating. You have to pay for it ? It seems kinda strange to sit across 8 guys or something , lol
ABrokenWing
I have thought about doing this before. Something always holds me back....guess I'm just terrifed of getting my heart broken or something. I would love to hear how it went though!!
Author Melovator
Alright so there were 18 guys and 18 girls. It was fun, but only had 6 minutes to talk and it felt like each time the conversation got vaguely interesting the bell would ring. Of the guys who I could tell were interested in me- they were unfortunately of the variety I attract because I am 'nice'. One truck driver who was the same height as me (and I'm 5'1), his height wasn't the issue it was that he'd never read a book in his life. One full-time carer for his mother; who also needed a hair cut desperately and again had never read a book in his life. One overweight guy- weight not the issue (I weight 25-30 kilos more this time last year so who am I to judge?)- nope he clearly had depression to me and did not smile once the entire time- ISSUES! Those three were clearly interested, but I did not select them even in the friend option- not sure they could do just friends and to be honest I have tonnes of male friends with issues; I do not need to add anymore. Ooh just got my matches- one is interestingly the very hot physio- a friendship not a dating match but that's cool he had a brain. And the other one is one of my fellow public servants (there were LOTS of public servants- I have no clue why) and I can't remember a bloody thing about him. I have some cryptic note written on my card... which appears to read 'Halian', 'Holion' WTF??? So I had fun, and the nice thing is that its not like I have to say to anyone "Sorry you don't do it for me." All taken care of by email! So now I suppose I contact these people! Author Melovator
Ahhh! Its Italian! Now I remember cool guy with a nice shirt! That's right he joked about his name- in that it was "Aussie"- explained he was named after an uncle but his parents had decide to use the Anglo-Aussie version rather then the Italian- Alright- no complaints so far!! The two matches I got were both cool!
Boost79
I tried the speed dating thing and got 2 dates out of it, and that was about it. I don't really like the way most websites conduct the matching afterwards thought. If person doesn't pick you, you get no response from the website at all, which to me is shallow. Author Melovator
The place I went through- if you got NO matches then you got your next event free. Actually the person I probably 'clicked' most (not in a sexual sense) with was another one of the women- we went out for a drink afterwards and some dancing! She was a laugh!
