Hair Disaster- Silly Post.

Recommended Posts

So I got sick of my fiances friend calling me ginger, and decided it was time for a bit of a change of hair colour.

Instead of going to the hairdresser (£100 a time usually here in London- not possible while Wonderboy is being the spreadsheet budget police) I thought I would colour it myself- I have done it loads of times, and never had a problem.

Bought the colour, "Chocolate cherry" i have used this one before, its an intense reddish brown.

Forgot that my hair is full of blonde/ginger highlights and regrowth so hair ended up looking BRIGHT red- like the colour of red wine, but much brighter. Under a light it was :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::sick:

So instead of being out with my fiance WB this Friday night, I am putting ANOTHER colour over the top (plain brown) in the hope that it will tone it down. (Consulted with WBs mother- she used to be a hairdresser. After a few clucks, she told me this was my best bet). Its ended up costing nearly double...... I wouldn't have bothered till tomorrow normally but I have to work tomorrow- this weekend is going bad already!!!

My hair is probably going to fall out from all the ammonia and peroxide and shyte they put in the dyes.

I did get a bottle of red wine with the second dye though.... so am working my way through that in the hope that my hair and my s/(v)anity will return to some kind of normal before my beloved gets home.

:lmao: I've so been there. I once ended up with florescent orange roots and ends that looked like dried blood. That was my attempt to go strawberry blonde - only it was at the hands of a trained professional in Beverly Hills! A complete disaster!

WB will love you even with your bright red hair. I'm sure of it.

He thinks its funny. Thats half the reason why i want to get it sorted before he gets home!

You actually WANTED to be ginger? (Strawberry blonde if you say so, but come now, we all know thats a courtesy term)

Don't know what its like there, but in NZ and the UK, gingers are persecuted relentlessly.

You should just cut the shyt and dye it black.

:bunny:

Nearly as good as. I have redyed it and it is nearly black to cover up the red.

I may rename myself Goth-129.

WB has seen it, and thinks its great, because it will be like having sex with another woman

Haha I call my SO Ginger, too. From the southpark episode...

I'm always wary of dyeing my hair myself. I usually rely on my friend who is a hairdresser. Now she has me phobic of home haircare.

I did this before too. Had blonde roots and black everything else when I was trying to go brown. I ended up having to go to the hairdresser on emergency. She totally stripped all the color out and started again. My ends are still fried but it'll be all grown out hopefully by summer. It took forever.

My hairdresser said "you don't pay for the coloring, you pay for the expertise". ;)

one time I was trying to go to a honey color, my hair is a medium brown with reds in it. And well it turned out orange! and this was at the hands of a professional.

Don't you mean Daywalker? ;)

I swore I would never do it at home again after I got dye on my best friends bathrooms white paintwork..... she was very .

But I simply cannot afford the cost of London expertise at the moment. Wonderboy and I are on a strict budget, and if i get my hair done this month, I can't go on my friends hen (bachelorette) weekend. Its going to be very civilised and posh, but expensive. (and fun!!)

Budgeting sucks. It is for the greater good (a house for us), so I have to grin and bear it! :D

WB likes the new look anyway..... toning it with the brown definitely helped.

So glad you averted your hair crisis sb ! Professional highlights are one of my only extravagances for just this reason.

What about the wedding though : surely WB will loosen the purse strings for a pro hair styling then ?

Of course! I will not be a gothic bride! We are only in the first month of the budget, so are making an effort to stick to it. Its our money after all, but we really need to kickstart the savings and try to keep the extravagances to a minimum.

I had "holiday hair" as I thought I would 'temp' dye mine redish. Similiar experience. I did go to a salon and they dyed it dark, dark with red highlights. Everyone says it looks good. However, I think they are lying.

Oh well, welcome to the dark side Goth 129. We have cookies.

Ehh i did that once...a while back. I have dark brown hair and went to get some "stylish" highlites....ya...no.

I ended up with the top of my hair looking like straw and underneath all dark brown. It was an odd sight.

THis chick i knew did the opposite. She was a natural blonde with tan skin and green eyes. She looked very cute naturally. Then for some ungodly reason she died her hair black. She looked like she aged 20 years. Just didnt fit her. Thankfully she saw the error of her ways...she's back to being blonde...a darker blonde, but much better nonetheless

Dyes are dangerous!

I have black hair with red block highlights in it. It takes 3 effing hours to get my hair done, though, which is such a pain in the ass. At this point I'm considering making the whole mess dark brown and just be done with it. I probably won't have the time to go to three hour hair appointments every 3 weeks when baby gets here.

Oh goodness...SB you poor thing! I can very much relate...A few year's ago I was craving a hair color change! I wanted to add a few red highlight's to my long blonde hair.... Well let's just say that it did not turn out very well.. and it seem's like it took forever to get my hair looking back to normal! Now when I crave a change...I remember this. Good luck to you! I'm sure your color will tone down and until iif some one call's you "Lucy" take it as a compliment!

Good news is that most people seem to think that the dark brown is an improvement, and its really really shiny!

Wonderboy likes it, and I am not so shocked every time I look in the mirror now.

I will leave the cutting to the professionals though...

Who is Lucy?

When I said Lucy..I meant Lucille ball from "I the love Lucy" show she sported a very famous mop of red hair! I hope your old enough to know who she was or I am going to feel very dated about right now!

Its because you love me so much.
