Marijuana and baby

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i know this may sound weird but can a ex-marijuana addict (recovered for 8 years) can that affect the baby? thanks...

Male addict or female addict?

Males reproduce sperm throughout their lifetimes so it's fresh while a female is born with her eggs. Whatever the female has been exposed to in her lifetime can affect her eggs, but it's much worse to be using while the baby is developing.

If you are talking about the past tense and not present tense when it comes to the use of the drug then I would think the baby would be okay...

Long term use of pot in women does affect the ability to get pregnant by reducing the number of eggs that a woman produces..

but since you are talking about an already fertilized ( I'm guessing ) baby then you should be fine...

Most of the studies that say damage to the egg can happen only speak in terms of current use and it is debatable at best.

If you are already pregnant then why not ask your OBGYN?.. they could tell you right off the bat...

Do you eat a healthy diet of all natural foods and fresh vegetables?

Because if your diet consists of the same kinds of foods most people eat you're most likely at greater risk from genetically modified foods (which the US and Canadian govs refuse to list on food lables) and preservative chemicals, than some plant you smoked a decade ago.

Good point - and very true - what you ingest during your pregnancy is definitely more important than anything you inhaled a long time ago. Eating healthy is the best thing you can do.

my mother probably drank alcohol and smoked pott while pregnant with me. Physicaly I've been fine my whole life (actualy probably healthier then 99.999% of people) and I'm also a straight A student. But having parents who do drugs is a pain in the ass. I wouldnt worry to much about this, I mean are you going to break up with this guy if some one tells you smoking pott ups your chance of freaky babies or something?

Sure it can effect the baby. It will have higher creativity, an intense appetite, great sense of humor, and a generally blown mind.

Isn't it true that a woman's eggs are all created at once, and they are released over the years. I think an x-ray 8 years ago is more likely to cause mutation in eggs than pot smoking in the past would.

Yes they are created all at once but they are matured one at a time and released..

that is the part that pot affects.. the maturing and release of the eggs.

The baby may get occasional cravings, but don't we all? Good luck.
