I don’t want to play with his heart !

Recommended Posts

I’m going out with a guy for a couple of months ( we’re not actually dating, and it’s just because of me ) and last thursday, when we were together, I told him that I needed some time. He asked me why and I couldn’t give him a genuine reason. I mean, I didn’t even have one at all.

He was caught by surprise, since the day before we hung out and everything was just fine.

He cried his heart out before me on that night, but I kept my position, and also said that we should stay apart for awhile, without even talking on the phone or seeing each other. He asked me for how long and I said: “I don’t know.”

On friday, he called me saying that he wouldn’t take this situation, and I could notice how he bad was. So I decided to show up at his place to talk, and maybe make things easier for him.

We talked about what had happened the night before and he said that couldn’t still understand how we were perfectly fine on a day, and on the next one, I did that.

I told him that it was a thing that I’d been thinking about for sometime; it wasn’t a thing out of blue.

He said that whatever the problem was we could work it together; we didn’t need to stay apart. I sort of agreed with that and we got back.

On saturday, I went to a party and I met a guy. We talked and when he asked if I had a boyfriend, I said “no”. So, we kissed and stayed together that night.

I thought about telling to my guy about this other one. ( I know that even not beeing in a relationship, it’s implied to him that we shouldn’t be seeing other people. Although, we’d never discussed this openly.) But when we met on sunday, he gave me a letter that he’d written on friday, before I show up at his place.

In this letter, he tells he’s crazy for me and that we shouldn’t break up for something that can be not strong enough to be considered. He also says that we have a pretty good chance of working as a couple.

The problem is that I have this great guy who, as he also said in the letter, loves me and still I feel like something is not quite right.

Shouldn’t I be satisfied and stop thinking about breaking up with him every two days?

Should I tell him about the guy I met, even though I know it was a one night thing and that it’s going to break his heart?

Or maybe I’m just trying to hide from something that can really work just because I’m afraid of commitment ( I’d never being in a real relationship before, and this situation I’m living on is, by far, the longest I’ve ever had )?

I do care about the guy I’m seeing, though it’s not the way he does about me, and I don’t want to play with his heart. Help me!

You are obviously not ready for a realtionship...not to be mean, you said it indirectly yourself. You should be straight-forward with him, because honestly there is no way you can let him down easy. He cares about you greatly, but if that isn't enough to move you, you have to let him so because otherwise you will be playing with his heart.

In the meantime, you should really stand back and try to discover why you feel afraid of committing to one person? Do you like the excitement of a new realtionship? Are you afraid of being rejected in the long run? Or do you want to be young and free? Whatever it is, you have to discover it for yourself, and really think about whether you want to be that way or not.
