Does online dating work?

Recommended Posts

I'm not concerned about the success rate of dates, just the quantity. It has occurred to me that I will never grow out of my commitmentphobia unless I just date the hell around for a while. So...

1. What are the best pay sites? Quality women? (If it matters, I'm in LA.)

2. Any free sites that are good? How do you work em? (craigslist, facebook)

3. How much of the stereotypical stuff do you get...fake pics, crazy chicks, etc?

4. Should I call all this off and just beg my ex to take me back??

Don't know. I think Match.com has a deal that if you are still single or dateless within six months you get some part of your membership free.

I wouldn't use facebook as a dating site myself.... there are alot of people on there who aren't looking for romance, and it could get confusing.

In my experience, none.

No. You broke up for a reason. That reason will become clear to you one day.

My experience of online dating is excellent. I am getting married to the only guy I met in person at the end of this year.

Online dating is your best bet for quantity. I got around 6 girls phone numbers and had 3 that I called regularly out of about 20-30 that I got in contact with through various sites (free sites only) over a period of a few weeks. I wasnt really ready for dating so only meet 2 of them; I was just testing the waters after coming out of my last relationship although I'm sure I could have dated a lot more if I had wanted  Sure beats going up to 20-30 girls in a bar somewhere lol!

I did run into one crazy though, she seemed perfectly normal and had a respectable job (so she says) but turned out to be a nut-job stalker who even sent my ex msgs full of lies. Now I would be far more careful as to who I chat to from online. But saying that I did meet my current gf online so defo go for it and have fun :)

If you're good lookin', tall, and an obvious catch, it don't matter what site just use all of them, throw up a pic and the usual stuff and start sendin messages and sit back and wait.

But if you're like me, who cannot market myself for squat, gotta work some other angles.. I try to find someone on a site that's geared toward interests.. so if you're into art or photography join a photo community, or if you have manic depressive obsulsive agoraphobia, join a mdoa board, whatever your interests/personality/quirks are join a common group and meet people there. Cause dating sites won't work unless your a ken or barbie, or blessed with being extremely photogenic

I've met woman without online stuff, but if it helps you, go ahead. I'm happy to say that I've never used a website or a hooker bar. I prefer to meet girls the old-fashioned way. Jeez, no one uses the old face-to-face anymore. Man, get those eyes of the computer, and flirt in person. convo is just as powerful, if not more, than screenchat. And flirting is only effective in person. Why else can't you ask someone out on the internet? God, you So you internet freaks need to stop using the WWW and put on your charm! I bet there's a TON more ladies that are poss. mates than those desparates in the dating websites. Why can't you just do your own work through a basic human skill: talking!!!!!!! Sorry if i'm ranting, but i have strong opinions on this, and i personnaly think online dating is worthless junk.

Your awesome ranting buddy,

LikesMeNot:bunny:

Don't know! Do a google search. I maybe google the site of interest and the word 'review'?

2. Any free sites that are good? How do you work em? (craigslist, facebook)

See 1.

3. How much of the stereotypical stuff do you get...fake pics, crazy chicks, etc?

Nothing wrong with crazy chicks. But expect the worst would be my guess.

Dear God no.

If I was single, I'd love to do those speed round dating things. Anything to meet as many people as possible to find your best match

that is awesome!! Congrats. That is what I am looking for too. I don't like the idea of "dating" I like the idea of finding a mate. I just wanna find someone, settle down and get married.
