Gold Pile Posted February 18, 2008 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Ironic. My very 1st LS post was about my plan to fake wealth to attract dates. Now I've come full circle. I'm certainly more wealthy now but I'd rather hide it. I'm a serial dater, outside of a 5 year, and a 1 year relationship my encounters have been 1 night to a few months long. It just seems unwise to have so many "discards" knowing much about my $ pile. Art's post on being sued by a friend that slipped on his boat is a good case in point. My next car is going to be modest, paid for in cash but low key. My home is already modest, in a ritzy area but still modest. Investing is a big hobby with me and I've always been comfortable yakkin about it. (" screw the Red Sox, hows about that Exchange Traded Fund")Being honest and discreet won't leave much to talk about. Art_Critic Posted February 18, 2008 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Nothing wrong with keeping what you have under wraps till you are sure they are with you for you and not your money...no matter how much you have. When I was younger I dated a lot of women that wanted to date me because I had nice stuff and a successful business.. All that got me was engaged to 2 gold diggers when I was in my 20's. I learned to be smarter the more I dated and although I never hid who I was or what I had I most certainly kept quiet about it till the right time. Typically when I was dating ( even online dating ) if I could I would not tell them where I worked.. I just would go into the nuts and bolts of my job here instead of telling them I owned the company. I would have to generally tell them who I was as soon as I told them where I worked or gave them my email address, I always tried to wait it out for a few or more dates before all that knowledge came out.. or if the date progressed to my house as that was a dead giveaway that I had more than my Toyota Sequoia. I have also had women do the same to me.. There are plenty of women out there that had assets and have hid it too while they were getting to know me... So it goes for both sexes.
