KidEternity Posted March 14, 2008 Share Posted March 14, 2008 (edited) Right so today while I was sitting on the train heading into College somebody decided to sit beside me and he tapped me on the shoulder, so I took out my headphones, smiled and he started talking about God. To which I said "look man, I respect what you are doing but I'm not really interested", I thought that was polite as possible but he obviously took offence to it and went into a lecture about how I was going to hell for not being a believer, he got really angry while I just stayed calm and told me my exact belief in life which is "I believe in something, whether it be a God, Higher power or something, I do belive, but I just don't adhere to the rules of organised religion because I hate what it does to people" So he got even madder, and walked away and started talking to someone else... Now I listened to him, and took his points on board and I'll think about what he said, but obviously he just considers what I believe as stupid and wrong which I find quite ignorant and disrespectul. Anyway a brief explantion might be required as to my views on life, well the last time I went to church in any way, I was told to cut my hair by the minister, I also got a tattoo, which he dissaproved of, he then told my mother to never take me back here again, so we never went back and I grew my hair even longer. That was when I realised that he may believe in God, a God or whatever, but that he projected his own beliefs through Religion and that to me is vile, and everyone has seen it happen... A perfect example of this is...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church Honestly those people don't believe in God , they believe in there own distored views, which they seem to think is God's word and believe me if that is God's word I'd be happy to burn in hell. and truly I don't want to believe in a God that doesn't let me grow my hair, or tattoo my body. My body is a temple and it deserves artwork I respect religion and it gives people strength to do great things, but the worst part about religion for me is that nobody seems to believe in the values of it, everyone preaches this and that, but does anyone treat anyone else with respect? Nope. I try to be the best human being that I can, I'm a pacifist and wouldn't consider hurting someone else, I always try to help people, and yet there are people preaching this to me, yet they don't follow it makes me ill.... I also hate when somebody uses religion to pray on people, and take thier money... BTW I consider myself open to everything, Christianity, Buddhism etc... I would say I am more spiritual than religious... I don't need go into a long rant about Wars and death, and "God's Will", but I can't deny the power that religion has on people, and all the pain, and joy it causes... Just needed to vent a bit as that guy got on my nerves, I just cant stand that somebody considers my views wrong and there view right, even the most basic Religious Believer should understand the concept of letting someone believe what he wants to believe and come to it on his own terms, right?
