Author used2saynvr
Mistakes are things done unintentionally. You intentionally had sex with this guy, and asked him to finish inside you. That's a deliberate action, and it's therefore inaccurate to describe it as a mistake. quote] i think most people are aware of my meaning and usage of the word "mistake". This was a retrospective term, not to describe "an accident" , but rather a poor choice in judgement.
Author used2saynvr
have an abortion immediately if you are pregnant. that's not how i will choose to deal with the consequences of my actions. as i stated before, i will deal with the circumstances that i have brought upon myself. while i respect a woman's right to chose, this is not an option for me. depending on the person, this could haunt them their entire lives. case in point, woman just killed herself after an abortion about a week or two ago, per the headlines. the act of killing her unborn child drove her to suicide. So this would not be an available and healthy option for everyone. Definitely not for me and my emotional well-being.
Author used2saynvr
Why willingly throw yourself at the mercy of other people's opinions?[/quote] you're saying to abort a baby to avoid being the victim of other people's opinions later? I don't think a decision of that magnitude should be based on the possible opinions of "others". By "others" I'm assuming you mean other imperfect human beings who too have made mistakes (secret mistakes), or deliberate errors in judgement (if you're more comfortable with that description). That's not a good enough reason for me. Again, I respect a woman's right to choose. Just not for me. I imagine it's difficult for a man to put himself in the mindset of a pregnant woman. Just as it's difficult for a woman to put herself in a man's mindset.
Author used2saynvr
People are defined by the sum of their actions. If a person lives an exemplary life, then does something really bad like commit murder, then that defines them, you'd better believe it. I don't care how good they are in other regards, they are primarily a murderer. I'm sure you've stolen something at some point in your life. Does that mark you A Thief today? You've lied at some point in your life. Are you "A Liar"? Your point gives way to the fact that under this method of classification, we all would wear numerous hats/titles. Every one of us. We'd all be "Liars", "Thieves", "Office-Backstabbers", "Fornicators", "Hypocrites", etc. if we will begin defining ourselves based on our shortcomings. I'm not saying that I don't deserve to wear the "Cheated with a Married Man" hat. I'm just saying the hat is no bigger than all the other hats I wear. The "Good Daughter" hat. The "Loyal Sister" hat. Or the "Teaches People how to Read on My Own Time" hat. Or the "Helps build homes for families in need one Saturday a Month" hat. Or the "Wil Lend A Friend My Last Dollar" hat. Or the "Loves to Make People Smile and Feel Beautiful and Good About Themselves" hat. I can go on and on. But I think you get my point. We ALL carrying multiple titles, which is the problem with this type of labelling. Your argument is that a criminal is still a criminal regardless of their good deeds. Point taken. My argument, however, is a criminal was much more before (and will be after) his crime. I won't defend the murderer thing b/c that is just ridiculous to even make that analogy in the first place, now that I think about it. Taking someone's life should not even be mentioned in the same discussion as having sex with a person who promised commitment to someone else.
