grogster
So far no confirmations. What do you think about this? Years ago when Phil was still on Oprah a woman complained to him that her H really courted her previous to marriage and he was very romantic. He would throw rose petals on the floor making a path of them leading to the bed, have a gourmet meal prepared for them, etc. After M, he completely dropped this behavior. She had married this guy BECAUSE he was romantic and that is WHY she fell in love with him. Dr. Phil told her that her expectations were unrealistic and that she should simply get over it. I was fuming! Many people wrote to him about it so he brought the couple back on the show to straighten it out but he never really backed down. I think he should have backed the wife up. If a man shows you certain characteristics during the courting, he better keep it up during the marriage. The wife said her husband had completely changed and didn't even show a LITTLE bit of romance at all after marriage. What do you think? Was Dr. Phil right? Bait and switch happens at Wal-Mart and in bed. If the misrepresentation is material to the deceived spouse, then it matters. Phil-boy's error was in concluding that since the bait and switch would not be a deal breaker to him it shouldn't be for anyone else, either. Well, guess what. People are not all the same.Different things matter to different people to different degrees. Just because he considered the issue minor does not mean that the wife should. Phil belittled her concerns because her concerns were not important to him. That's Narcissistic, and bad therapy. If LS porn threads teach us anything, it's that porn's a deal-breaker to some, and not to others. Likewise, this wife was ticked about her husband's coldness.
OpenBook
If a man shows you certain characteristics during the courting, he better keep it up during the marriage. Odd that many men have the exact same complaint about their W's. The wife said her husband had completely changed and didn't even show a LITTLE bit of romance at all after marriage. I think this happens a lot. One or both parties gets complacent. Once they're married, Mission Accomplished and they assume they no longer have to put in the effort to woo the other the way they did when they were courting. I have no answer to this. Not to mention it denotes a total state of depression...hmmmm I wonder if Heff has actually been suffering from depression all these years and here we thought he had it made. Actually, Hef wasn't a Playboy at first. He was faithfully married, until his first wife (or GF, I can't remember which - but it was the first significant R in his life) cheated on him. He was devastated by that, it totally f*cked him up... and it totally changed his views on love and sex. It was his "defining moment." Playboy was born soon after that. D-Lish
Sperm don't have arms so I'm having a difficult time visualizing it. That's what makes it a better visual.... they are just sitting there like eeels on wheels:eek:.... little scooters without any scoot left in 'em. Phil and I haven't decided when the right time to "GET REAL" and tell Robin is yet. After Phil fell asleep last night- I had a serious conversation with his moustache.... and the moustache wants to talk to Oprah first before making any concrete decisions. Tomcat33
that'll teach you to only read the last page LOLOLOL you guys are on fire tonight! What do you think about this? She had married this guy BECAUSE he was romantic and that is WHY she fell in love with him. Dr. Phil told her that her expectations were unrealistic and that she should simply get over it. I was fuming! Many people wrote to him about it so he brought the couple back on the show to straighten it out but he never really backed down. I think he should have backed the wife up. The wife said her husband had completely changed and didn't even show a LITTLE bit of romance at all after marriage. What do you think? Was Dr. Phil right? I think he is a moron, granted he has said some interesting stuff on the shows a few times I've watched but all in all you can't have one size fits all answers for everyone. that was great point Grogs brought up that that different things matter to different people. I would be peeved if I married a man that pretended to be romantic and then stopped. That IS bait and switch. It's funny I was participating in a thread over in the dating section of this guy (possible troll though unbeknownst to me at the time) who was saying he pulls out all the stops for women on dates and they fall inlove with him and then he is not longer into them. joke or not somwehere along the line young men are being taught to pretend to be romantic to get the girl. Well it is really crummy to do that becasuse it is not sincere and to a woman who enjoys that kind of thing it can be a real let down. how could doc Ill tell her to just "get over it"? WE engage in long term rels for the traits partner displays in the courting stages if that changes it was false advertising how can he NOt acknowledge that? Bait and switch happens at Wal-Mart and in bed. If the misrepresentation is material to the deceived spouse, then it matters. Lyssa
As for Dr. Ill (as TC puts it), I have always thought he's a bogus. When I was visiting Nixson, I watched Dr. Ill's show on TV (there was nothing else) and I must say, I laughed throughout his show. That moustache is annoying to watch!
