So, these people presumably don't know your god, don't know they're evil sinners and should repent.

Now that they have been discovered- you can bet there will be a deluge of self righteous zealots busting through the forest to hand them bibles.

It might be a race to see who gets there first- the mormons or the jehovahs... Maybe the Pope will fly in on with his shiny spear proof helicoptor. I wouldn't want to be the poor young mormon knocking on the grass hut only to be recieved with a spear through the chest.... but hey- I have considered it myself. Damn laws.

We are all going to "hell" due to believing in whatever religion one believes in. The other religions claim their religion is key and the other ones are heathens.

Even based on South Park, we're all going to hell.

I don't believe in Heaven and Hell..

I am not a religious person but I am spiritual.. so these tribes probably have their own beliefs and their own gods..

amazing to think there are still undiscovered tribes/groups of people on this planet in this day and age, isn't it?

as for someone going to heaven or hell – be it someone aware of God or someone like these folks, who have had no influence from the outside world – well, it's between the person and God, and we can conjecture all we like, but we don't have the inside scoop.

I agree , amazing. However my first thought upon reading the story was "oh Goody, more people to tax."

I concur. In their belief system, we probably are hell.

thanks, tink – now I get to wipe the Pibb off my computer screen

in that vein, however, I'm guessing that the natives' more pressing concern will deal with civilization trying to "tame" them in ways other than just religious, and that's prolly going to be harder than being saved because their WHOLE way of living will be affected ...

My second thought (on a Texas note) was that maybe social services will go in there and take their children because of their wildly dangerous belief system "my god those children don't even have BEDS!!".

But I prolly should not even get started on that one .

Many days I consider walking into the amazon and finding a spot to dig up some nutrition I could somewhat sustain on and just how much better that life could be aside from all of the pressures of modern life. But then I think I'm sounding schizophrenic even to myself and I glance warrily around the room to see if anyone is reading my mind.:bunny::bunny:

This post rang a bell for me, enema.

Years ago, I was travelling by train and got talking to the woman sitting next to me. She was born again, and since I was a captive audience, she was doing some "witnessing", trying to save my beleagured soul.

I posed this very same question to her: what if some person has lived a Christ-like life (forgiving, loving, patient, gentle, pure) but they live up river on the Amazon, and have never heard of Christ, therefore have never taken Him into their heart and declared Him their saviour. Would they be cast into hell?

Her answer- yes. If you don't make the official declaration, then you're screwed eternity-wise, in her opinion.

And don't we see the opposite all the time. People like Jimmy Swaggart or Jimmy Baker (or any number of proselytizing hypocrites), who talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Or people who use the sacrament of reconciliation as some kind of soul-shower, which wipes them clean again and again.

I'm beginning to think that Jesus would be ashamed of some of the smug, self-righteous know-it-alls who claim to be his followers.

I'm sure he would be ashamed ... if he existed.

As for the tribe, I daresay they have their own concept of an afterlife and what happens to bad people (they're forced to watch endless repeats of Everybody Loves Raymond).

This is probably what is holding up the Rapture of the church and the Great tribulation. The bible says the word of God will be preached everywhere before this happens. Then the end comes. Signs of the times indicate the end is around the corner.

disgracian

And once that day comes, whichever born-again Christian happens to occupy the oval office will have no reason not to push the big red button and end it all for Jesus.

Cheers,

D.

At least now we know the Apocalpyse didn't just sleep in. This culprit tribe is the equivalent to nervous learner drivers or rogue cyclists causing traffic jams in rush hour. Let's hope they're the last of it.

I saw that it is a fake. A shame really. Can't even trust the news.

Don't worry. We'll track down those yet undiscovered, unsullied bastard people yet.

That's the thing, they can't go to heaven. Besides, all that is around us (trees, grass, animals, etc) are proof of God. Everyone is without excuse.

He is ashamed. And those who lead others astray with their own gratifications, like air conditioned dog houses, well, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes

What exactly is it about an air-conditioned dog house that leads others astray?

You're saying that you'd still be a Christian without a Bible and a religious upbringing, and that you could learn about Jesus just by looking at trees and goats?

Cheers,

D.

Everything that we see in nature are proof of God. Because life shows that it was designed by a creator not evolved. Why do you think trees and goats are two very different designs? Look at the molecular structures of plants and animals that make up life and see how complex it is, more complex than a computer. Doesn't life show design and that it was from a designer?

Look at the bacterial flagellum as an example. How could something that complex could've formed gradually by chance?

The human eye is another good example. How could a biological mechanism that complex could've gradually formed by chance?
