Karl.Parker
Hi everyone, I have been really obsessed with my weight problem. I am a 33 year old female and have gained 90lbs which makes the count to 210. I recently took out some of my summer clothes and they don’t fit me anymore!!! This is a real tragedy for me. How can I not wear the ones I adore...moreover the new look is getting me mad (with the comments from my friends). I know quite a few ways to start losing weight…….but I don’t really feel that, with so many people failing using these methods that I will make it through. Does anyone know a proven way to reduce the weight? Please help me…..this is killing me!!!
lino
how often do you exercise? If you seriously want to lose weight you need to be doing 1.5 hr long cardio/weight sessions 4 or 5 times a week. It's the only way
CaliGuy
Yes. A broken heart will kill your appetite Honestly, I would get a gym membership and start working with a personal trainer. They'll show you the most healthy way to lose weight. And it isn't whacking out all your calories. They'll wean you into an exercise program that will keep you on track and gradually build your workout up.
Lizzie60
eat lots of vegetables.. NO junk food.. eat healthy... exercise at least 4 hours a weeks...(cardio) .. walks... drink lots of water... This is guaranteed... I swear.
BiAxident
The more calories you can burn, the more fat your body will shed. Hence, the more exercise, the better. You don't need to run or even jog, simply walk. Take long walks after you get home from work, take long walks on the weekends. Also, as has been mentioned, drink a lot of water, at least a half gallon a day. If you're exercising and sweating a lot, one gallon should suffice. Also, try to increase the number of times per day that you eat. A fire (your metabolism) will burn hotter if you throw kinling (snacks) on it several times a day then just dumping a few huge logs on it (3 meals). Eliminate or limit your intake of empty calories. No soda, little if any fruit juice (full of sugar), no white bread/rice. Don't obsess over carbs. No diet that tells you to eat cheese and meat to lose weight is a healthy one. When I was dieting, I prepared several meals on Sunday and portioned them for eating throughout the week. I recommend stir-fry (brown rice), spahgetti (wheat pasta with ground turkey or shrimp), veggie burritos, tuna/chicken salad (replace mayonaise with BBQ sauce), eggs, water and more water. Shoot for a realistic goal, something in the area of 1-2 pounds per week. Anything more than that may be unhealthy. Good luck!

MaxManwell
Proven way to lose weight? No big secrets or miracle panaceas, here. Consume less calories than you burn up. Very good sally ! that would be what causes weight loss but how does she lose weight ? Firstly cut all sugar out of your diet. That means juices too - almost as bad as softdrink (as he skulls 2 litres of OJ) Secondly abosolutely NO junkfood - you can find substitutes for that rush. To me, this is not about you losing weight because that could make you unhealthy in itself. This is about installing an exercise regime and having you eat good healthy and wholesom food. Put some muscle on those pudgy bones of yours and turn you into a man eater. Cardio is your best friend - good solid, hard manly cardio. Don't do walking it is wasteful you need to carry your own weight. Join a gym and run on the treadmill daily. IF you can only fo 5 mins at first thats ok but just make sure you are consistent. PAIN is your friend - no pain no gain. If you are not hurting after a run you have not run far enough. If you run for 50 mins reward yourself with a nice meal. I ate a lot of pasta back when I was working out and running (spending 2-3 hours daily in the gym). So don't buy into fads either. Eat as well as you can afford. That means FRESH vegetables and lots of red meat. YOu need energy. Again this is about good health and not simply losing weight. A healthy you is a hundred times better than a sickly malnourish stick figure. Remember CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO I'd do an hour of cardio, come home and fall into bed ready for work the next day. Mustang Sally
Very good sally ! Why, thank you! I thought it was good advice, too. My point is, that there is no big fancy, one-size-fits-all method for doing this. There's no silver bullet. You give some good specific suggestions. Maybe you have personal experience with this topic? I think that's great to give specifics. But I didn't list out 101 ways to do the equation of "Consume less than you expend" because I happen to think that different people have different ways of doing that. And in this day and age, it seems unlikely to me that anyone would NOT have access to that sort of information. There are books, magazines, website, TV shows, etc. devoted to that very topic. And even though I frequently am "Master of the Obvious," I chose to not get into the rhetorical with the OP. What I hope the OP is NOT asking for is some "easier way" to accomplish the goal of losing weight. Like a pill, or fad diet, or somesuch other snake oil. Those methods don't give lasting results, if they give results at all, and just capitalize on people's (in general) desire to achieve difficult goals with minimal outlay of effort. Losing weight usually involves a serious lifestyle change. And it (for virtually everyone) must be maintained thereafter to avoid regaining. Personally, I have a difficult time being super-strict about the amount of calories that I take in, so it works better for me to ramp up my energy expenditure by exercising more. To each, their own. Lizzie60
Oh.. I just remembered.. a quicker way.. gastric bypass. A friend of mine had it.. 2 years ago... she was too lazy to exercise and she didn't want to sacrifice junk food.. She lost over 125 pounds fairly quick.. then she slowly started to eat junk, a little at a time, otherwise she would puke... then she would force a little bit more in.. We go for walks and she keeps buying candies, potato chips, French fries... she gets mad if I say something.. I once told her that I didn't say that to hurt her but to make her realize that she will gain all that weight back if she's not careful... She got mad... Now.. I don't say a word.. I just watch her gaining all the weight back.. and complaining that she's gaining weight because of the sleeping pills her doctor prescribed.. then it's her hormones.. then it's her thyroid.. it never ends... She never dealt with her issue with food.. Losing weight is CHANGING your lifestyle.. YOU CANNOT DIET FOR A FEW MONTHS and then go back to your old diet.. you have to keep it... it's a complete change... One more thing.. I am now almost 56.. I am fit.. I have a great body.. but I have to be careful.. if I wouldn't watch myself I would be overweight... When I have 10 pounds too much.. then I stop eating junk or whatever.. I watch what I eat.. etc.. You don't become obese over night... people gain 10 pounds.. they don't care.. then another 10... then they get discouraged because now they have 20 pounds to lose.. it becomes a harder battle... A person can't wait.. he/she has to deal with the weight as soon as they are not happy with it.. I have to agree that it's not easy.. it's a lot of sacrifice.. but no one will do it for you.. you are responsible for your weight.. it's not the doctor, the pills, the hormones, the thyroid.. in MOST cases, it's only too much eating.. not enough exercising.. period. Ronni_W
KP, Yes, obviously the stuff about calories and cardio and lifestyle. But what gets overlooked too frequently is the stuff about the emotional aspects of our overeating...or whatever other unhealthy habit we are trying to manage or eliminate. I really think the best way to tackle it is nutritionist/dietician + physical trainer + emotional fitness counselor. (Haven't yet heard of one person doing all three...maybe a career niche?) Some people do get good results with hypnosis for weight management. I'd want to ensure that the hypnotist has specialty training in weight reduction, though.
J2FT1
Everyone knows how to lose weight... eat healthy & exercise. You're just procrastinating because you enjoy being lazy and eating junk. The most simple and and truthful response.
mental_traveller
Eat less, eat more healthily, and have exhaustive exercise twice a week (i.e. until you are shattered - not just 20 mins on an exercise bike). Pretty simple really. I find the best way to do it is do something physical that you enjoy e.g. team sports, or some kinda intensive sport with your partner or friend(s). The key thing is that it must be fun, otherwise you will hate it and eventually quit.
Pedigree
I'll add patience to the equation as well. I've lost 34 pounds over the last 2 months and have found it easier to keep my weight down this time round than the time when I lost 22 pounds in 3 months by starving myself. Drenzis
participation is a sport is always a good way to have fun and enjoy yourself my suggestion would be to take up a sport you really want to do. something like martial arts, netball, dancing, soccer/whatever takes your fancy i don't think taking up a sport alone will help you lose weight but it is one way of giving yourself something to work for ie i want to be more fit so i can intercept the pass ect P.S I've just joined
georgejungle
it is possible, it is. The main thing is to go on a good healthy diet but STAY on that good healthy diet, forever. Change your daily eating diet. I did and it did wonders for losing some fat i had been wanting to shed. My problem was that i'd exercise periodically (haven't in a while now ) but I wouldn't see any real change cuz i was still eating the same way. I lost 12 pounds in a little under 2 months just by changing my eating habits and making different choices. I also got my cholesterol down in the process. I still eat ice cream and candy bars and drink soda here and there but overall i've cut it out and I don't indulge as much. It's made me a more happy person. Now I just need to get exercising to keep up my stamina,
kivabeach
I recently lost a bunch of weight, but it didin't come without the hard work and dedication. For two whole weeks (and only two weeks)I ate nothing but veggies. No sugar, no carbs, not even fruit. I ate mainly egg white omelettes with veggies for breakfast, salads with chicken (breast only)for lunch, and baked fish with veggies. I also ate nuts and string cheese for snacks. Sugar free stuff is okay...like adding splenda to your coffee or sugar free fudgcicles for dessert. Always use Non-fat milk if you can. in addition to eating that way, i worked out like crazy. 5 times a week doing cardio (atleast 30-45 mins) and weights (about 30-45 minutes). I lost 8 pounds in two weeks. after two weeks, you can add fruit smoothies and whole grains. No white anything. Brown bread, brown rice. continue to stay away from sugar and keep working out. try to stick to the side aisles of the supermarket...fresh lean meats and fresh veggies. If it comes in a box, you dont want it. I have lost about 15 pounds total, and have about 5 more to go. i feel great and my body has never looked better. Good news for you is, since you have a lot of weight you'd like to lose, it'll come off faster than for someone like me who only wants to lose about 20lbs. NEVER pay attention to the number on the scale...matter of fact, just get rid of a scale. Base your weight loss on how your closthes fit now, or measure your waist before you start losing weight and check on your waist every so often. i've lost 3 inches!! One last thing...I began to get EXTREMELY motivated once I saw the weight coming off. It feels good, and you feel in control of your body. Good luck and keep us posted! Does anyone know a proven way to reduce the weight? Please help me…..this is killing me!!! I tried Alli, but it did not agree with me and I had to go to teh bathroom ALL the time. I ordered off EBAY, but only used 1 bottle and only 1 pill a day, AUTHENTIC 2 Day Diet LINGZHI Slimming Pills 5 Boxes Like with every pill you have to take it at your own risk. I had no side effects, but I was health to begin with. That is also the reason why I took only 1 bottle. To get my body used to eating less. I also continue to drink the amount of liquid as before. good luck. Remember not to take too much because they you have to worry about loose skin and that is no fun either. me003
I also wanted to mention stress. Stress plays a big part in weight loss or gain. Try to map out of when you are stress if you retain weight or not.
