Please Give Advice!!

Recommended Posts

I was set up on a blind date a couple years ago with a great guy. We dated about a month and really got along.. However, I had just had a baby and was going through some rough times with my parents, and we quit dating because he thought I didn't act interested in him. I've seen him a couple times since then and we have mutual friends. I can't get my mind off of him. I know we are both single. Should I try to get us fixed back up again or find a way to get over it? Please help!1 Would he think I was crazy if I try to do this?

Angela, If you can't get your mind off of him, CALL HIM!! Either that, or try to arrange it with friends so that you "bump" into him during a night out. What have you got to lose? Why would he think you are crazy? I would think that he would be flattered that you have been thinking about him. That is probably the best way to phrase it; you've been thinking about him, wondering how he's doing, wanting to catch up, etc. Let it go from there. Even if nothing romantic stems from this, perhaps it can be a newfound friendship. But if you don't make the effort, you'll likely drive yourself nuts and continue to wonder, what if...?

Best of luck to you. By the way, I met my wonderful boyfriend on a blind date almost four years ago.

In this particular situation, you need to contact him in some fashion, either directly or through a friend, and let him know straight out that you were going through a lot of personal stuff during your previous dating period and that you would like to get to know him better now. In other words, you have got to "call the question." Either he will risk again and see if something can happen or he will reject the idea and move on. You need to find out just how he feels now so you can either pursue a relationship of some sort with him or seek other people. There are some men who will move backwards and see if it works out differently a second time...and there are others who just won't risk the feeling of rejection again. So start making some calls!!!

Tony, Do you think he will think I'm crazy since I haven't talked to him in about a year and we only went out for about a month?

He won't think you're crazy if you approach him in the right way. If you are fairly he isn't seeing anyone, just call him and invite him to lunch. If he's seeing someone he will tell you. If he was interested before, as you say, he will be flattered that you called...and also very curious. Then let things happen from there. Unless you do this, you will always wonder what might have been. And if he thinks you're crazy, it won't kill you. You can't lose what you don't have. So make the call!!! And if he can't understand what you were going through before and why you reacted to him as you did, then he isn't worth having.
