Afraid to Unveil my True Self -A Makeup Issue

Recommended Posts

I have been wearing makeup since I was 14; now I'm 18 and I'm like dependent upon makeup. I would feel so embarrassed to go out in public without makeup. My close friends and family have seen me without makeup, but my new boyfriend hasn't seen me "uncovered". We have talked about being together forever, but I kinda get freaked out about what he'll think when he sees me without makeup. I mean, it's not like I have a repulsive face, but my self-confidence is too low, I guess. I really need help, advice, suggestions, whatever you got to offer me. Even advice from guys would be great. Someone help. My relationship is on the line!! I know I'm not the only one with this problem!! Leeza

Leeza,

You really have to relax, you know that. You also probably know how irrational you are being. I don't feel like launching a career in modelling, when I look at myself in the mirror without make-up, but then nobody does.

You have to like yourself with or without the make-up. We don't always look our best all the time, and it's nice to have a change in people's appearances.

I'm sure your BF won't run screaming from your house when he sees you without the make-up. He should like you for the person you are, as should you.

Be brave, be barefaced!

What we're talking about here is a self-esteem issue. I used to have the same problem when I was in high school, but now I usually wear minimal to no coverage. The way I became more confident in myself is through the normal process of becoming more mature. In college, I learned how to e more confident in myself. I learned how to accept myself for who I am, and I think the same thing can besaid for you. My first boyfriend never ever saw me without makeup, htroughour whole relaitonship, except when I got sick or he came by my house without calling first.

It's important that you learn to feel good aboutyourself, but no on ecan give you advice on how to do that. It's something that you need to discover on your own, but as long as you try hard to make it so, you can. good luck!
