For those of you who read my previous post about adopting a kitten - well, we did. My husband and I have both grown extremely attached to the new addition, but the hubby's allergies are just going haywire. So, we have to give her up :( The allergist said "we are crazy" for keeping a cat with his allergies being so bad, and the heartbreak of this is KILLING ME. The well being of my husband is by far more important than a kitten, but before we got her (the kitten), I missed my previous cat that I left with my parents terribly for over a year, it was just heartache. Know that we have to give this kitten up - I feel like a loony bin crying over it. I can't believe how attached to animals a person can get (unless I'm just a nut!). I guess I'm not looking for advice here, just a place to vent *cries into a pillow*

Ugh :(

am so sorry to hear it, I imagine your husband feels bad about having to get rid of kitty, too, because you bonded with it so quickly.

were you able to find a good home for it?

I'm sorry to hear that.. I love cats too and also have allergies to long haired cats..

Our cat is short haired so I don't have much of a problem with the dander...

Is your cat long haired by chance ?.. maybe he isn't allergic to short haired cats

I just had to put my cat that I have had for 17 years to sleep last Monday, because his kidneys has failed. I cried for two days. I'm still not 100 percent. The house is too quiet without him.

So, if you're a nut, so am I. He had a wonderful personality (purr-sonality?), and I'm going to miss him terribly.

I have three cats, and I adore each and every single one of them.

A steady stream of foster cats has gone through my home over the past couple of years. I have gotten attached to all of them, and saying goodbye was horrible. I am sorry that you are going through this.

There are hypoalergenic cat breads who have been developed for people with allergies. They are pricy, and I have no idea if they are easier for allergy sufferers to live with or not.

Thanks for the responses. Our kitten is short haired. He is super allergic, there's just no way of getting around it. I haven't found her a home yet but I hope I do soon, I can't even look at her anymore.
