How to meet new people at "school"

So basically i go to TAFE in Australia, its like a more hands on approach to a university or collage, less theory. Anyway im studying electronic engineering and i know no one at my campus because my mates from school/work go to either uni or a different campus to me.

 

Of course id like to meet some girls but im just unsure how do i meet them and get into there social circle because my course is mostly a male atmosphere.

Best thing you can do is make friends with the people around you. If you get close enough, they'll invite you along to have drinks with them and they'll usually bring their other friends with them.
