more friends if your rich, no one wants to be ur friend if ur poor-comment

Recommended Posts

i was talking and arguing with this classmate and he said this-- if ur rich and lets say you win the lottery one day u will have more freinds and everyone wants to be your friend, even the friend you haven't seen in 20 years they will phone you and want to be your friend.

but if your poor and broke one day and you loose all your money- businesss went down or you got laid off-be it your job and industry--- no one wants to be ur freinds, even when you want to borrow money -no one wants to give it to you or be your freinds, they won;t lend you money, and you won;t get nothing.and they won;t want to have anything to do with you

what do you think of this comment

If those are the types of people you call "friends" then I'd say you need to reevaluate the relationships you maintain.

It's true that many people with money have "friends" that come around to use them, but it's far from true that poor people have no one.

Friendship should have nothing to do with money.

I'm poor and I got friends. If I was rich I would have to examine who's my friend or who's hanging on just using me for my money.

True friends dont use u for your money. Real friends have your back.

I think it was my grandmother who always said that at the end of your life you'll be able to count your most valuable friends on one hand. And like someone else said, money should have nothing to do with friendship. That's absurd.

That is the truth!

You have acquaintances, beer buddies, golf buddies, work buddies, lovers, family, friends, weekend friends, significant others, but real friends are hard to find.

Real friends don't keep track of the exact $ when you are down. Real friends take you in when you are down. Real friends take the call at 3am because you need them, then curse you out when you are better! :lmao::lmao: Real friends are true to you. And there is more.

BS....I'm broke as hell.....if you have a friend who only values you for your money, that isn't a friend. I've never had money, and i've never been dirt poor, but I've always, ALWAYS have had friends, some of which I've known all my life and to this day still hang out with every year even though we all live all over the country.

Being poor in many ways is better because you know who is and is not your friend. I was once poor and now I am comfortable but I will always be loyal to my friends from the broke days.

Joel don't worry about those things. Just make sure when you pick a friend who will treat you the way you would treat them. It will be easy to see who your real friends are and little of that decision will have anything to do with money.

Acquaintances ask "what else can you do for me" and then get upset when the answer is "nothing". Friends ask "what else can I do for you" and get equally upset at the same response.

Interesting because here in the states, my kids and I are "middle of the road" on the outside borderline poor on the inside but when they visit their father they are wealthy, wealthy, wealthy. They can see the difference in how they are treated in both places. I sure could. Their cousins who are the same ages as they are, are way more in touch with people wanting to be their friends because of who they are.

Me, I just want to get my garbage disposal fixed and have enough money to feed the dogs and cats.

This is a two-fold issue. Money and friends don't belong together. I don't believe in my friends helping me financially, regardless of dire straights or not and know that my real friends have the same mentality. We're friends because we love each other.
