km82794
I have been a smoker for the last (ouch) 21 years, and yes, I am fully aware of the risks of tobacco smoke. I made a promise to my fiance that I would eventually quit one day and he has told me it's time to pay up so to speak. The reason I have never quit as of yet is because I am absolutely terrified of gaining weight. I've seen and heard so many horror stories of the excessive weight gain in people who give it up. I am not above diet and exercise, but, with one fiance and three step kids, a 40 hour work week, then another (5) hours I spend each night running our new business, not to mention the cooking, cleaning and laundry, I find it very hard to fit in exercise. I get up at 5:00 and don't get to go to bed til 12:00 sometimes. So, I have heard that some people who have been hypnotized had very good results, gaining no more than a couple of lbs. My boss had actually offered to pay for it since he detests smokers. Any comments are greatly appreciated?
rubgirl202
I saw this 20/20 (or one of those night time news magazines) program about people going back to their 20th high school reunion, and all trying to loose massive amounts of weight. some did weight watchers, some extreme exercise, some not eating much, some atkins. the one with the surprisingly most significant loss was the one that was hypnotized. i think you should definitely do it and tell your therapist to make sure to plug in there that you won't over eat to compensate for not smoking! It takes 21 days to break a habit, but unfortunately, as humans and much succeptable to conditioning, we try to always replace an action that we stopped with a new one. Also, you mentioned not having time for exercising...quitting smoking is a great step for taking care of your health, but getting some exercise would help turn back the clock! take a 1/2 hour only of your day for 'you' time and just do it! Best of luck to you and cudos for taking care of your self.
maskee28
Although I personally have always been a skeptic of these types of programs, a very good friend of mine actually works at a hypnosis centre where they hypnotize people for all sorts of reasons, but most of their clients come in to either lose weight or stop smoking. Granted, she is biased since she works there, but she swears by their programs, saying that every one of their clients who finished their program was successful in quitting smoking (I guess some people quit without finishing their program - don't know why as it is quite expensive) Anyway, I'd definitely give it a shot, especially if your boss is offering to pay the bill!
