Put an ad in the craigslist personals and mention that you have money and you will be deluged with emails from gold diggers. Funny thing is, most of them will claim they have no interest in money and are only looking for love. Post the same exact ad and omit the money part and you might get 2 or 3 responses. I did this and spaced the two ads 1 year.

I laugh at them. :lmao:

I know we want to think poorly of gold diggers, but lets face it, we all sell and trade things for affection. We compromise to things we really don't want to, or totally give in to the desire of our partner and they vice versa. Now if the person with a gold digger is willing to keep them in that lifestyle they want and that gold digger is willing to provide for the needs of that partner, who are we really to argue. As a matter of fact, there really is one universal rule we live by when it concerns relationships... Treat each other with dignity and respect. Other than that, there is no guideline as too how two people have to meet.

Why can't they be looking for both - love and money?

Here's the deal, women are geared by nature to be attracted to security. This is why they're attracted to successful men, particularly powerful men. Successful men understand how the world works, they're in control and can take care of their family. It's not some devious plot by women to go for them over unemployed or middle class guys. Nature instilled that in us so that our children are well taken care of and are safe.

I could do the same thing by putting up a photo of a frumpy looking woman and a beautiful one. Guess who would get the most responses?

Admit it, poverty sucks and there's no glory in it. It's a lot of fun having money. Not only that, you can afford that $5,000 dentist bill or take care of things you can't do if you don't have the money. You can argue this all day long. Many people have their own idea about what success is and what it means to be rich. But the bottom line is that part of the reason anyone marries - male or female - is because that person will enhance our life in some way.

But if times get hard how do you that person will stick by your side and ride it out? I hope being attracted to security also brings honesty.

BINGO !!!!!

If a woman is attracted to a man based solely on wealth and/or security, she will dump him in a heartbeat if hard times falls upon him. The sad thing is, she'll justify it with some ridiculous garbage like "We grew apart" or "He's not the man I married". The truth is, women deserve to be treated like a commodity. Men have every right to toss her out like yesterday's garbage when she grows fat or starts nagging, etc. I know that the only way a woman will stick with me to the bitter end is if she sees a hefty inheritance there.

I'd much rather leave my money to my dog. At least she's loyal.

Personally, I'm attracted to money and make no bones about it. Simple reason - I have my own money and income. If a guy is self-sufficient and can take care of himself, he isn't going to expect me to do it for him. Simple mechanics. If money isn't an issue at the start, you have a foundation to work with - so in the spirit of your ad responses, yes... I'd probably say I'm not interested in your money for ME, but you can bet your backside I want to make sure you have money to take care of YOU.

I personally wouldn't answer any ad I've seen in the personals on craigslist anyway, so I'm safe :)

Oh, for Pete's sake. And they say women are bitter. Get over it!!! Most women do not marry solely for money. And most of them don't leave just because the going gets tough. Yes, I'm sure that happens but here's a newsflash for you - a lot of men dump their wives for someone younger and thinner, too. Both sides of this marriage/relationship issue aren't quite sterling, are they?

Oh, and dogs bite. Yes, sometimes it happens.

Your bitter attitude is only affecting your life, no one else's.

My bitter attitude is keeping all the garbage at bay. It'll change when the right one comes along. How's that for a survival strategy? :p

Well, it's definitely self-preservation and I can't blame you for that. But things probably won't change until you can adjust your attitude. It's tough, I know. I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience and I hope you meet the right one soon.

Is there a snowstorm in hell scheduled or something? Basically, you want to find a woman who will accept you through good and bad in life, but you are not willing to do the same. Oh hell, this is life and life isn't fair..what am I saying? I'm sure you will eventually find some poor girl and end up in that scenario.

I don't laugh at them. Seriously.

As guys, I'm sure that we talk about how the major things we want in a woman are the good personality, sensible, non-crazy, considerate, intelligent and compassionate type characteristics.

But really, how often do you go over and talk to the fat or ugly girl just to check out her personality?

Now I'm not saying that deep down you and I think that looks are the #1 important characteristic. But women must meet clear a certain "minimum entry level" of physical good looks before we start to consider those other characteristics. And of course that minimum entry level changes with the guy's social status; Rich guys will be much more discerning because there are women with good personalities at all levels on the beauty/ugliness scale. Low status guys will be much less discerning and tolerate fatter/uglier women because they have no choice really.

And similarly, as guys we must meet a certain minimum level of wealth/power (which varies from female to female depending on how much her looks and social status permit) before the woman is interested in what kind of a personality we have.

Really, men and women act the SAME in these matters. It's just money/power on one end and good looks / beauty on the other end that define what you need to 'get in the door.' Only the most vain men and women are the gold diggers and womanizers who ONLY care about the looks and money.

a bitter attitude may also be keeping the good ones far away too - they're good, why would they need or even want to deal with the 'tude?
