sweet'n spicy
I am a professional with a doctorate (non MD) who works in a hospital setting where physicians run the show. I have many years of experience and am very valued by my clients and trainees, but the physicians around me are continually pulling rank. This pushes my buttons and I react with hostility and resentment. I know the situation will never change, so my choice is either to leave or to stay and suck it up by trying to develop some detachment and just do my work (which I love). Yet I fear "letting go" will cause my students and colleagues to lose respect for me because I will be giving in and letting the physicians take charge. THis is coming to a head now because of late I have gotten some negative feedback about my defensiveness in meetings. Anyone out there who can help with this? Thanks!
