Knowing if you are a shy person or an outgoing person. Did I answer you question correctly?

I'm actually really shy and don't like to go out much but when I'm very smashed I'm really social and get a feeling of really enjoying myself round people more then when I'm alone.

Even when I'm alone I sometimes which out could be very social.

Now I'm wondering should I keep fighting to be social or should I except the way I am and enjoy things alone?

Shyness has nothing to do with whether you are an introvert or extrovert.

As far as your question goes, that is up to you to decide. If you are not happy with how things are, then do something about it.

If by "fighting" you mean resorting to addictive substances or other unhealthy behaviour then I'd have to say, no don't "fight".

But shyness is not a terminal condition. Pyro is right that you can choose to change how you see yourself, how you act, how you see others, etc. I do also agree that we ought to change whatever in our life is not working for us. Change from the inside, that is...not expect or try to force our externals (people, situations, events) to change because of our own needs and desires.

But that brings me back to my original question, how do I know which one I am? Either I'm an introvert who should accept the way I am or I'm a extrovert with insecurities.

How do you know?

Actually, it doesn't matter if I call myself an introvert or an extraterrestrial...I do NOT have to accept anything within myself that I don't like JUST BECAUSE of some "label" ... and neither do you.

We all have our unique set of doubts and insecurities, regardless of any labels. So, do not worry about what some behavioural therapist might label you as...you do have the power and authority to decide for yourself who you want to be and how you want to act. Do not accept anything less for yourself than what YOU want. (Again, from the inside out, not looking to the 'out' to fulfill your vision.)

Actually shyness is one of the factors of being introverted. I am shy, I don't really like meeting new people, I avoid jobs that demand a lot of human interactions (especially with strangers), I am not very social (even when I go to a club, I hardly ever make a move on anyone, and I am that guy who dances by himself). Even with family members I really don't know, I am not highly interactive with them.

There are a lot of free online tests one can take to find out things about himself or herself.

Oh, and being introverted does not mean one CAN'T deal with social situations, I like to do some public speeches and deal with people on a NON-intimate/personal level.

Ok I but the way introvert and extrovert are expressed is the way I see the world. It's really hard to obtain but if you obtain it, it's really nice feeling.

But everything you do is exactly what I'm doing and it's not really a whole bunch of fun.
