Explorer
Chris Langan. Blue Collar worker who was employed as a boucer at a bar when his genius was discovered. Anyone ever heard of him? Here's a link if you're interested in viewing his interviews: http://onemansblog.com/2007/11/06/smartest-man-in-the-world-has-diarrhea-of-the-mouth/ Noone has reached an IQ on his level, ever. His works are remarkable. One in particular that has reached the media is the "Cognitive Theoretical Model of the Universe." http://www.ctmu.org/ From what I could gather and summarize, he basically explains religion with logic, rationality and the objective senses and defines its purpose for existence. His "Thoery of Theories," objectively solves the pros and cons of all methods for solving for an answer and pokes at the holes with the scientific method. He claims to be closer to absolute truth than any other human being is or has been. Very interesting material. Comments?
Angel1111
I'll have to read that. I'm totally intrigued by intelligence. I used to be married to someone who had an IQ of 170 and he was fascinating to talk to. His mind never ceased to amaze me and his memory seemed limitless. People like that have such a gift. I truly envy them. Thanks for sharing.
Tony T
I think there are some pretty stupid people around with high IQ's. The questions in IQ tests are often rather impractical as they apply to the everyday world. A lot of these very "smart" people end up dying with their "intelligence" and nothing more. quankanne
high IQ is pretty cool, but I'm totally blown away by people who have photographic memory ...
Citizen Erased
Yeah this guy is not the first to reach an IQ of 200. Cardinal Wolsey springs to mind. Not bad for the 16th century. And I think da Vinci was about 220-230. I agree quankanne, photographic memory is amazing. I have a friend with it and he just blows my mind. He is our groups' very own personal Google. The Collector
There is no such thing as photographic memory. My IQ is over 150. I got up to 170 once. The more you do the tests the better your score. It's not a broad definition of intelligence though.

The Collector
You SS quota over for the night? Ha. I've only ever used up my SS quota once, my average there is 0.5 posts a day - and I've been too busy to post anywhere much for the last couple of months. On topic, I've read that on average women tend to do slightly better than men on intelligence but the freakishly smart and freakishly stupid tend to be male.
MaxManwell
He works at a bar I bet he got rejected by some stupid Blonde working for an insurance company for not being intelligent enough. My IQ is 201. Whats yours ?

Author Explorer
high IQ is pretty cool, but I'm totally blown away by people who have photographic memory ... But a photographic memory doesn't give you the ability to solve problems, just recall things more clearly.

Those are estimates since they obviously never took an "IQ Test." Langan has the highest results ever recorded.

The Collector
This was his first time to take an IQ test and it (the test) was considered the most difficult among all IQ tests. How do you know how many times he's taken an IQ test? And I didn't think some IQ tests were supposed to be more difficult than others - wouldn't that invalidate the whole premise? NoIDidn't
They definitely vary in difficulty and your score can fluctuate dramatically depending on what you have been doing. I have found when my mind is more active with things such as mathematics or programming I tend to score a lot higher on the IQ tests. Among other things they're very biased. Did I mention your score can fluctuate a lot ? Many people will say it doesn't and therefore your intelligence level is set, those people in my opinion, are idiots. I have to agree with this. Mine has varied from 129 to 148 and even on the same day. So, I don't pay much attention to my IQ. Now, emotional intelligence, EQ, is the new *it* test. I scored pretty neurotically on that one.

I think part of what makes someone smart is the choices they make and how they feel about certain things.
Thomson
Psych wards are filled with guys scribbling out complex and arcane theories of the meaning of life. Seems they let one out too sooni don't think some of you guys understand what theory means. the·o·ry the·o·ries A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena. when someone says they have theories about life or the universe you probably mean you have personal musings or a hypothesises. not a theory like this guy claims to have. michelangelo
I'm familiar with scientific methodology and i glanced at the guy's website. Again, I believe the psych wards are full and apparently overflowing. i don't think some of you guys understand what theory means. the·o·ry the·o·ries A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena. when someone says they have theories about life or the universe you probably mean you have personal musings or a hypothesises. not a theory like this guy claims to have. shadowplay
When I was eight or nine my IQ was tested by a psychologist at 162 (my older brother remarkably scored one point within me at 163). My mother scored a 165 when she was a child, which was the highest score in the history of her school. That said I think the IQ test is a load of crap in many ways. I'm no genius; I've met plentier of people smarter than I am. (Didn't Marilyn Vos Savant hold the record before this guy, and all she accomplished was that mediocre column in Parade Magazine?) I also think my brain has atrophied over the years. I would be scared to take an IQ test these days. I remember reading that the vocabulary section of the test is the section most correlated with overall intelligence. Pretty counterintuitive.
