doc555
My Ex-Girlfriend and I had an apartment together. SOme things went down and I moved out. I am helping her with some of the bills for the last month. Yet she keeps going out all the time and complains about money. I know it is her credit cards she is using. How can I tell her to becareful with her cards? Without upsetting her?
clia
If she's your ex, I don't see how it's any of your business how much money she's spending. She's a big girl--she'll figure it out.
Tony T
If your name is still on the lease and you remain responsible for the apartment rent, I can understand why you would be concerned. Under most real estate leases, tenants are jointly and severally liable for rental payment. That means that if one stops paying, the other one has to pay all that is due on the lease. If that's the case, all I can say is that if she blows all her money and can't pay the rent you will have an extra bill every month until the lease expires. Of course, if you're happier away from her it may be worth the money. If she does stop paying, see a lawyer on what your options may be. But you can't tell her what to do now...and she may just run out of money to piss you off. You can't really say much to someone who'se addicted to spending. Most of them don't even learn upon filing for bankruptcy. Many are right back at that point after the required passing of seven years. Next time, find out a bit more about a lady's spending habits before you take up with her in a serious way. Of course, as clia said, if her financial status is irrelevant to your life...just let it go and let her dig her own hole.
HokeyReligions
I'm with Tony. If she gets to a point where she's not paying the lease and you are paying the whole thing-move back in and piss her off! It sounds like shes using you and you are trying to be nice. That happened to a friend of our. He was nice to the tune of $130k+ after fines and taxes & legal fees to finally make it stop !
superd
I had a friend like that but I eventually found a way to discontinue our friendship, people that want to involve you in their money problems want to involve you in their destruction and from there your destruction too. I would make moves to disattach myself from this person before its too late.
