Here comes the wedding...there go the lbs!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm getting married in December and my dress has a boned "corset-style" top (It looks KIND of like Belle's dress from beauty and the beast except white not yellow). Anyway, my current measurements are:

Height: 5'2 (5'3 I say! 5'3!)

Weight: 125-130 lbs

I am VERY curvey, very very thick hips/thighs, large breast, big butt...just the way my FH likes it. (For the record, I'm 100% Caucasian LOL).

My mom is my height and weighs a little heavier although she has less "curves" and more just "weight"...so I know that if I'm not careful that could happen to me. (Love my mom, but I love my figure too!).

My main problem is I would like to have slimmer thighs (I have to wear size 7 jeans instead of size 5 because of my thighs), and I have a flabby tummy.

I would like to loose roughly 10-15 lbs.

I know it doesn't seem like much, but I would like to slim down my stomach and thighs.

I would just try dieting but I dont really know what the best way to go about this is, especially when my target weight (115-120 lbs) is so close to my regular weight. Also Im not sure what to do when I primarily want to loose weight AND tone a bit.

I LOVE food (Food, Sleep, and my FH are my favorite things in life!) but I dont eat *terribly*, I eat steak, lamb, homade sandwiches, etc although Im not going to say I never eat fast food (I do, a good bit). I want to join a gym but going to school full time and working two part-time jobs does not leave me much time for that. Also I cannot afford a membership. Please no one sugjest running, I simply cant. (Im not exagerating, I break out in itchy hives when I run). BUT I would be willing to make adjustments to get to my goal weight.

I see all these diet crazes but I dont know what to do just to loose a LITTLE weight. Can anyone help? THANKS!

It can be really hard to lose weight when you're already in your healthy weight range. When it comes to spot reducing exercises (which, from what you're saying, is what you need - eg to reduce the thigh area) I've never found anything to beat callanetics. That's a programme of exercises devised (years ago now) by Callan Pinckley (spelling?) who I think is a former dancer. It uses subtle movements to work muscles very deeply - and you should see results pretty fast. Not necessarily reflected in the scales, but certainly in your measurements.

I lost 40 lbs in 6 months walking 4 miles a day and watching what I ate. I know it's extreme but it's possible if you want it enough. Good luck!

Taking steps instead of elevators can really help to lose weight very fast. I lost 50 pounds between April and October of last year, by just taking steps once a day to the 9th floor where I work. It's quick, effective and only takes 5 mins.

Goodluck!

OMG Cheza you just described my body almost to a T. LOL

Same height...and weight. I'm also curvy....and have 'junk in the trunk"..LOL

I actually think I look better naked than with clothes on..(sorry TMI) but I guess that's not a bad thing :)

My advice would be to begin eating 5-6 times a day..and do some weight training

a few days a week in addition to cardio on alternate days. Dieting will only do so much.Weight training is essential in order to change your body.

In fact I am trying to get motivated myself....

Hope that helps!!!

Thanks, I do try to eat multiple times a day and not horrible but I do eat some junk food. Can you do weight training outside of a gym? (By the way, I think I looked better naked too, LOL)

Do ya'll think yoga would help?

Yoga, yes. I took yoga classes for the semester and I'm looking to get into the class again. It's absolutely powerful, what it does for the person.

We're being sold videos and while I'm comfortable enough now to do yoga on my own, it's only because I started off with an instructor who taught me how to position my body, etc. Yoga can lead to self-injury. So before you take that up, hopefully you'll be able to find someone. I mean, you don't even have to sign up in the gym - they probably have classes for yoga at a community college.

We have the same height and the same weight, but the fat distribution's different. :) I'm the soft, but slender build. I'm seeking to lose a little more of the softness and look leaner and quite possibly tone myself? I don't know. I need to change my eating habits first. =D

Good luck!
