Only money isn't success Only power isn't success Only marriage isn't success, loving satisfying marriage is success IMO True success is success in every area of life. Career, relationship, life, most important soul success. And if soul is happy, then everything would fall into right places. What does satisfy a soul and feed a soul? Art_Critic Posted August 9, 2008 Share Posted August 9, 2008 I've had many goal and continue to set them... When I was young my career was a goal.. for example.. I wanted to be the best I could be in my particular field and inside my company to the point that people noticed I was better at doing the job than any competitor... I did achieve the goal.. or at least felt I did from all the other input I was getting from others, including clients. I felt successful.. very actually.. To me success has nothing to do with money and all to do about how you feel about yourself when you met the goals in your life.. Many people have a mid-life crisis because they feel they didn't achieve the goals they felt they needed to have but in reality the issue is that they never set goals or never set realistic goals... I have also always broken my whole life down to goals.. even such goals as being happy... There were times in my life that I wasn't happy with who I was or who I had become.. I set goals to change myself.. Those goals I needed help to achieve from others but I did set a high priority to them till I was happy with who I was again and could smile in the mirror and laugh at myself.. Of course I felt successful when I achieved that goal.. still do...and that goal needs constant maintenance though so I stay on my toes at times.. Great thread and topic... In other words, if it's your destiny, and you believe in destiny (Something that's inevitable), then you're not fulfilling it. You're just riding life and waiting for your destiny? No work or fulfillment to be done. Right? I also agree that there are many aspects of life that success pertains to (Career, relationship, life, etc), but the question was meant to be directed as a general one. So your general consensus of becoming succesful is through "feeling a sense of accomplishment?" My destiny is in heaven , the moment I realized it, the moment Spirit in me jumped joyfully. But I am now on earth, still have lots of things to do, and these things God already planed for me to do, if I walk into these plans God planed for me, then I fulfill my destiny here. It is a great joy that know I can cooperate with universe God, and be used by Him. Everybody has own special talents that need to be fulfilled (God made them for), when they do what they are born to do, they are most happy people on the earth. It is not about "riding life" and "waiting", in each short period of time, I realize I am moving toward it, because Spirit in me tell me so and I saw changes in myself, and I become more peaceful and more like myself, more tune into the universe. I have goals, these goals all of them are concerning God and souls. I may not comprehend the whole picture of the plan, but I know I am walking in it. and another important goal of mine is satisfying relationship, and God will back up this too. He concerns about everything in our lives. But there were times I was quite confusing, especially in tough times, I complained to God why do you allow me in this situation. But later on I found out that are perfect will of God, then I thought "Only God can figure out such a smart plan", if certain part I want to change about myself, I maybe spend 10 years to do that or become permanent nothing change, but if God in this, He inspires me, teach me, guide me and grace covers me, then the change can happen very soon in several weeks. In a word, if I obey and follow God, I definitely am going to fulfill my destiny, walk into the plans of God is fulfilling destiny, do I am born to do is fulfilling destiny. So the key is to find out God's will, and communicate with Him. I am happy when put my soul in God's hand. The worst enemy of people is to limit themselves Link to post Share on other sites

Some people set goals of losing 25 lbs by the end of the year and when they do they are successful.. Some people make goals such as fixing relationships.. or having a better relationship with their children or parents... or when a runner decides to run and win the Boston Marathon... When they achieve those they will feel successful.. Not everything has a monetary outcome for it to be successful.. but you are right that many goals do. The monetary outcome is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow though.. it isn't the reason you set a goal.. It isn't like you set a goal to become rich.. that kind of goal will never be reached.. but if you set a goal to be a well known heart surgeon because you have always wanted to be one or your Dad was one, and you want to help save lives.. then after the goal is achieved you will be rich.
