dvsxx6
Hey everyone. So I'm trying to get between 1200-1500 cals a day so that my metabolism continues to work throughout the day [rather than be in starvation mode and not have enough cals]. [i'm currently 5'1 and 105-107 LBS]. My question is, what should I look for on nutritional labels? Carbs, Fats, and Proteins are important but what numbers are a good number to look for, for each and every meal? Do these numbers vary for the different meal times? [i think this is where portion size comes into play]. And what kinds of snacks should I eat? health bars? carrots? blah? I don';t know. I've been eating Odwalla nutritional bars [i ate 2 today, I ate the first one 3 hours ago, had a salmon salad with dressing on the side then ate another odwalla bar [not b/c I was hungry but cause I just wanted more cals for my cal number]. Btw both bars were 230 cals]. So I'm wondering, is that number of cals too high [2 bars, 230 cals each for a snack]? I think b/c I ate those 2 high cal snacks [theyre pretty high cal for my standards], I am gona have to eat a small dinner, right?.. Ug. I'm still confused w/ this eating thing. I haven't exercised for about 4 days so I'm gona get back into my hour cardio/yoga routine. Hopefully more calories will help me shed weight faster as opposed to depriving my body of cals.. Thank you for any feedback! I really appreciate it!
dazed.1
I'm sorry, not to be rude here but are you trying to lose weight?? Because I am 5'1 and ~108lb and I don't think someone that size (including myself) should be counting calories or obsessing over their weight. You should be concerned with healthy eating....that is be sure you are getting the proper vitamins, fiber and protien in your diet, not obsessing over the number of calories in a snack bar: snack bars are usually just empty calories with low to no nutritional value. Get your nutrition on track and you won't feel so worried about calories, the two go hand in hand.
