Finding that passion for living....

When I say I want to find that passion, I don't mean the physical passion, I just want to find or know how to get passion in life to do things, etc. Finding things I enjoy, having fun whatever. I hope I am making this clear. Anyways, I know it is a depression thing, and with no money I can't go to talk to some perfessional about this. But what can I do to get that passion of doing things in life. EVeryone has something they love to do, but I find that that is my issue. I have no passion or I am not passionate about anything in life. Can anyone recommend what I can do to find that passion. Thank you.

i don't know if one can FIND a passion... it's kind of like looking for love - doesn't work.

but, if you decide to work on something and dedicate a lot of time to it, you MAY become attached to it, and eventually become passionate about it.

great qn btw, i'm looking fwd to others' ideas!

Every man is the architect of his own passion. Nobody can help you. Nobody knows you as well as you do. You don't have to be passionate about anything in particular....just waking up in the morning and looking forward to a beautify day is a very good start.

As you said, you are dealing with a measure of depression and until you handle that it's not likely you will achieve a great measure of passion about life. Why not get passionate about getting over your depression. Go to your local health department or university where you can see a physician free of charge and get the treatment you need to get out of the slump...and be passionate about it!!!

How else can depression be treated, aside from medication (which i maybe wrongly reject b/c it doesn't solve the root of the problem), and things like eating well & exercise (these may help, but again, i don't think lack of these two can bring depression, so the root of the problem must be elsewhere)?

Actually, if you are clinically depressed, it does solve the 'root of the problem' which is that your neurotransmitters are messed up and need to be kicked back into normal functioning. It is true that psychological factors are involved with depression, but if it has gotten to the point where you can't get out of your depression with counselling alone, it's time to try the drugs.

If there is a psychological cause, it could be anything from some feelings of abandonment from childhood to a loss of some sort. The fact remains, though, that exercise, particularly going outside to exercise, does lift mood. It is not that the lack of exercise causes depression but that exercise helps to heal depression. Also, the foods you eat can directly affect mood because of the chemicals in them and you can feel bad if your nutrition is poor.

Rather than assume these things won't work, why not try them? I bet you'll be surprised how much outdoor exercise can affect you.

I will try them - it makes sense to, because the root is likely in the past, and nothing can eliminate it, so I might as well make the most of the present.
