D-Lish
If I lived in a country where politics were so entwined with religion I would move to another country. Seperation of religion and the state is important to me as a Canadian. If our politicians began bringing religious affiliations and values into their platform they'd lose my vote immediately and I'd consider moving. He's only the anti-christ if you believe in that stuff. I don't...and I'd be afraid of the instability and inconsistency that most religions are tied to. No church will ever run my gov't- if it ever does, I'm outta here.

So, no, Obama is no antichrist, but he most likely will appoint justices who sympathize with a more destructive agenda
D-Lish
Well, in the States, they have no seperation of religion and politics... That's freakin' scary. They will invoke policy based on Biblical beliefs. As an Athiest- I never want to see that occur. Abortion is a pretty big bone of contention- it will be heavily influenced by a religious process of thought. I don't want a Prime Minister who goes to church on Sunday and lets it influence policy Monday morning. I like my Prime Minister who punched out a protester for throwing a pie in his face and is subject to the same "assualt" charges as a civilian.
Jake Barnes
We have seperation of religion and politics and its in the Constitution You talk as if it were Iran here. Where I live in Florida theres strip clubs, prostitutes and drugs everywhere. Its like Soddom and Gommorah down here

I think America is a far cry from Iran. Duh But don't tell me religion doesn't permeate your politics. You just illustrated my point by making a biblical reference to certain geographical regions that religion influences who you vote for.

Why don't the so called moralists just let people live their lives and they could live their's. Why this need to have everybody live life like they do? Gay marriage has no effect on my marriage in anyway and abortion is none of my business.

We have had a republican in office for 8 years yet we have not become a more moral society so why do social conservatives somehow think that electing republicans will eventually make everybody good and decent. Whether or not you agree with his politics Obama seems like a good man to emulate in his personal life unlike Mcain who dumped his sick wife for a younger and more attractive woman. The religious right have to be the most gullible people in the world.

The religious right have to be the most gullible people in the world. One Republican can't fix it, but the decisions of the court systems have ramifications on society and the President has a big influence on who gets on the courts for many years to come. Right now most of these decisions are made at the local and state level, but theres still an epidemic of violence and hedonism in our society at large and I really dont know how much power the Supreme Court has over it. Maybe not as much as Id like Woggle you often complain about feminism...don't you think the constant objectification of women we see around us might play a role in making women a little jaded? Don't you think celebrating porn stars and glamorizing promiscuous behavior might have a psychological effect on women? When you check out groceries and you see magazines that criticize female celebrities that put on weight as losers and then turn on the television and see Girls Gone Wild videos what do you think that does to their psyche? Im not voting for McCain btw based on Iraq
Woggle
Radical feminism is simply a hate movement not unlike the religious right or white supremacists. What men or what society does makes no difference because they will hate us no matter what. I don't like these tabloid that constantly harp on a female celebrity's appearance but the president has no effect on this. Tabloids have existed ever since celebrities existed and always will. It has nothing to do with liberal or conservative. Besides the biggest readers of these magazines are women. Most men couldn't care less how much weight Jennifer Aniston has put on. I resent the notion from both feminism and conservatives that sexuality is degrading. There is nothing wrong with both men and women being sexually attracted to each other. It's what keeps life on this planet going and part of what makes life more interesting.

In no way sexuality is degrading in our 'moralist' eyes:eek:. we think sex is beautiful, just we don't want to cheapen it and don't want to pervert it. do you know that Bible has a single book dedicated to decribe love and sex life between a husband and a wife? absolutely beautiful
D-Lish
Christianity played a central role in developing Western Civilization and in that sense it influences who you vote for also. You can't escape 2000 years No, but after looking back on those 2000 years, you should be able to see the atrocities commited in the name of religion (crusades maybe) and learn to accept that change can be positive and progressive. The in-charge people should be looking at politics from a logical point of view... religion should not come into play. That's personal. Christianity only influences whom you vote for when the only candidates available to vote for are Christian. But- are all residents of america Christian? Nope. You've got a whole whack of cultural mosaics living in america. Germany can't ignore or erase thier history with communism and the wretchid genocide once perpetrated on the alltruistic minority. Do we excuse that as just an "influence" we can't escape? Or do we as a world learn from our mistakes? I say we learn.
Quinch
Obama is the devil incarnate!!! Cast him out brothers and sisters. Spurn all who call themselves Democrat and all blacks, Jews, gays, single mothers, abortionists, hispanics, liberals, poor people, Asians, sodomites and gun-abolitionists for they are the children of Satan and will burn in the pits of Hell! Vote for our beloved Senator McCaine who is the blessed son of Jesus. God Bless the Good Old U S of A! (the congregation will now rise and shoot guns in the air while chanting "Yee-hah!" until falling over and foaming at the mouth). Tony T
Are there any christians here who believe that obama is the antichrist? I think most educated, true Christians would not speculate on the heart of Barack Obama but would defer to his and OUR (the same entity) maker for that information. I am shamed that a thread of this nature would appear in a forum I frequent. While it is a legitimate question about anyone running for present, why wasn't the question asked about John McCain or Ralph Nader? As for speculation, at any given time in history there were dozens of people who may have qualified for the antichrist. Recently killed was a possibility, Saddam Hussein. I think Adolf Hitler would have qualified. How many antichrists are there supposed to be and what are they supposed to do to qualify except have a 666 somewhere on their body? At this time, the president of Iraq is one (can't spell his name), Putin, all the people who have to do with our oil supply, the people who are caught daily stealing from charities and old people...the list goes on and one....to me all these people could qualify as the antichrist. I have seen no evidence whatsoever that Barack Obama could be the or one of the antichrist(s) so I don't understand the reason for this question. While I am not necessarily inclined to vote for him at this time, I don't think any human being deserves to be smeared in such a horrendous manner without good reason.
The Collector
The reason for the question is that there is an anti-Obama ad that supposedly evokes a lot of imagery from the retarded 'Left Behind' series of Rapture novels, implying that Obama fits the bill.

The, "Anti-Christ" isn't one person, or two, or even three or four. If you read 2 John 7, John did not reserve the title “antichrist” for any one particular individual; rather, he taught that anyone who denies the incarnation, messianic role, or deity of Jesus is the antichrist.... Sks
Anyone could be an anti-Christ if placed in the correct situation. Given the right circumstances anyone is capable of anything. Mr.Obama represents complete ****, but I wouldn't say he could be compared to an anti-Christ, at least not yet. God Bless the Good Old U S of A!
