Moose
Yeah, a man's gotta have a hobby Some more productive than others though right? Cause it doesn't seem to be affecting me at all.....in all seriousness, you actually could put yourself in the, "Anti-Christ" column from this type of behaviour....that is if your heart is contrite in what you're saying.... I might actually be the Anti-Christ because my ex-girlfriends all said I was a demon in the sack Conversely, by your own definition a muslim could say you're the Anti-Christ (or Anti-Muhammed at least) because you deny Allah. disgracian
At this time, the president of Iraq is one (can't spell his name), Putin, all the people who have to do with our oil supply, the people who are caught daily stealing from charities and old people...the list goes on and one....to me all these people could qualify as the antichrist. What is wrong with Putin? Cheers, D.
Tony T
What is wrong with Putin? Cheers, D. This is off topic to the thread but: Putin, as head of Russia's KGB, oversaw the killings of many dissidents. As president of Russia, he did same. As premier, most recently he ordered and supervised the invasion of Georgia even though he was sitting next to G.W. Bush at the Olympics. (Pretty good trick.) If you have the idea that Putin is a nice guy, then his spin guys have done a great job on you. Now back to the thread about Obama being the antichrist, or one of them....hahaha! Citizen Erased
He's a smarmy arse but I doubt he is the anti christ. The current guy fits the bill more than Obama I would think...

He's no angel but he is far, far from the worst. Cheers, D.
GrnEyedGemini
And how is electing a republican going to fix all of that. We have had a republican in office for 8 years yet we have not become a more moral society so why do social conservatives somehow think that electing republicans will eventually make everybody good and decent. Whether or not you agree with his politics Obama seems like a good man to emulate in his personal life unlike Mcain who dumped his sick wife for a younger and more attractive woman. The religious right have to be the most gullible people in the world. You don't know what his marriage was like. Hell, most everyone here on LS says if you're not happy, get out. Maybe, just maybe...there were some underlying issues that you have no idea about seeing as it was his PERSONAL life and problems. Funny how so many Dems knock him for that,...yet what about Bill Clinton and his famous affairs? How is that any better? At least McCain ended the marriage without mutilple embarrassingly public affairs.
GrnEyedGemini
No, but after looking back on those 2000 years, you should be able to see the atrocities commited in the name of religion (crusades maybe) and learn to accept that change can be positive and progressive. The in-charge people should be looking at politics from a logical point of view... religion should not come into play. That's personal. Christianity only influences whom you vote for when the only candidates available to vote for are Christian. But- are all residents of america Christian? Nope. You've got a whole whack of cultural mosaics living in america. Germany can't ignore or erase thier history with communism and the wretchid genocide once perpetrated on the alltruistic minority. Do we excuse that as just an "influence" we can't escape? Or do we as a world learn from our mistakes? I say we learn. I'm confused....Don't your beliefs affect your morals, which affect your decisions? I mean...that's what right and wrong is based on...your morals, right? And if you make decisions in your life based on your morals, which is what I was always taught to do, then wouldn't that be making decisions based on your beliefs? Thats how the differences in religions come into play with government...people are taught certain things are right and wrong...and then go with those morals taught to make their decisions in the face of right or wrong. I don't think you can fully seperate religion from government because your beliefs are always going to be tied up with your decisions. We elect these people to represent us and our morals....which is tied to beliefs. You can't have morals without believing in right or wrong.

I don't really care but republicans should not site there and call themselves the values party as if democrats are a bunch of heathens when their candidate dumped his sick wife for a younger woman. You know if Obama had done that we would never hear the end of it and republicans would use it as an example of how democrats were out of step with values of mainstream America but Mcain gets every excuse in the book. If the right wants to talk about family values I think the Obamas are a much better example of that than the Mcains.

If the right wants to talk about family values I think the Obamas are a much better example of that than the Mcains. You mean like the Dems are doing to McCain. I'm sorry but in that respect, Dems are hypocrits. Of course you don't care what the circumstances were surrounding his divorce...those who don't like McCain don't actually see the reasons behind actions. You only see the actions and judge him for it. However, most Dems still love the Clintons. See....hypocritical. Just because a man divorced his wife doesn't mean the party he is part of isn't still the "values party". Hell, MOST of America is either divorced or on the second or third marriages. Hmm...in that case, he does kinda represent the majority better, huh? You wanna throw that stuff up, we can go back to the church that Obama was part of for 20 years...we don't know the circumstances surrounding his attendance of that church yet the fact that a Presidental candidate is/was associated with someone, scratch that...a preacher who says "God damn America" isn't very Presidental, is it? In fact, I'd consider that very un-Patriotic.
Woggle
I don't care about Mcain's divorce but the republicans should not point the finger as if they have a monopoly on family values. John Mcain is doing everything that John Kerry was criticized for as far as marrying a rich woman and owning more houses than he can keep track of but he is excused while a democrat would be derided as an elitist. You may say that these things don't matter but republicans make tham an issue every election. I can't stand people who don't follow their own rhetoric and that is what the republicans are looking like right now. As far as Obama's church it is not much different than any other church in any black neighborhoof in America. Many people in the black community share Wright's views and with good reason. I understand how it sounds bad to Middle America but a good deal of it is true.

As far as Obama's church it is not much different than any other church in any black neighborhoof in America. Many people in the black community share Wright's views and with good reason. I understand how it sounds bad to Middle America but a good deal of it is true. From what I understand those houses he couldn't keep track of are his wife's endeavers and are investment properties. As far as thinking they have a monopoly on values...I think that just comes from different ways of thinking than dems. On one side, killing an unborn baby is unacceptable (which is considered by those who believe it to be an important value). On the other side, telling a woman what she can do with her body when is unacceptable (which is considered by those who believe it to be an important value). I think it has to do with your personal morals and values. And differing schools of thought. Then, when like minded people get together, they try to force their personal morals and values on everyone else. Dems do it too. Its not just a repub thing. BTW, I don't care about it being a black church thing. If he wants to be President, then he needs to be the most patriotic person regardless of color or race, IMO. That means staying away from those who would tarnish that image. This debate happened long ago in another thread, but you can't deny that he knew what was being said at that church. The fact that he stayed a member of that "God damn America" church, IMO, adds just one more reason why he isn't fit to be the President. (Yes...I know he isnt part of the church now...but he was for 20 years. You can't just throw 20 years out the window because someone caught onto it.) Remember...IMO!
