zingy
i'm seriously considering trying a low carb diet to try to rid myself of these last ten nagging pounds. my problem is that i think i am carb addicted and i do get weak and shakie and very irritable without my carbs. for the most part i already dont eat very much white flour (white death) or sweets, i eat fairly well but i do tend to eat lean cuisines alot and they are like ziti, lasagna, noodles and meatball with a gravy thingy. they are all under 300 calories a meal and under ten grams of fat too, but they do have a lot of carbs, like up to 32 carbs in some. so any suggestions on this, like how many carbs is too many, and how to handle the shakes if i get too hungry short of eating carbs. i would miss my milk the most! Tony T
Diets don't work....not one of them. You're going to have to come up with a new way of eating that you can take to your grave if you want to control your weight. Dieting is a billion dollar business and I'm about to give you the secret for FREE. Yeppers, you are going to get for NOTHING what people pay billions of dollars every year to get unsuccessfully. The scoop: One pound = 3500 calories If you live a very sedentary life, your body may burn 1200 to 2000 calories a day. If you're very active, perhaps you burn 2300 to 2600 calories per day. So do the math. If you want to lose one pound, you have to consume and/or burn 3500 calories more than you take it. So if you use 2000 calories per day and consume 1500 calories, it will take you seven days to lose one pound (500 calories a day burned more than is used divided into 3500 calories is 7) It's good to cut down on carbs but you can lose one pound every seven days by eating 1500 calories of pasta, ziti, lasagna, noodles...or just drinking straight gravy. It's not what you eat, it's the quantity and the calories, plain and simple. Your body needs a balanced diet and I urge you to go that route. Eat your ziti, veggies, eggs, meat, whatever. Just don't eat a lot. You'd be surprised how you body will adapt to your new way of eating and will be very happy...and the pounds will be shed. Once you reach your desired weight, find the place where you are consuming reasonably the same number of calories that you're burning. It's so simple it's like taking candy from a baby. Author zingy
cept i agree with the need to rid the body of the white flour death. i did lose 42 pounds on a 1500 calorie diet, cardio six days a week, weight 2-3 days a week. but now with the last 5-10 pounds to go it seems that no amount of calorie counting, adding or deductions is getting rid of it. so that is why i thought something to shock the system may help, and i thought the low carb thingy might be the trick. i think i will stick to my 1500 calorie and eat what i want, with limitations to the carbs and the white flour, how does that sound? still need to do the cardio thingy and weights i know, ugggh, you'd think i'd be fit as a fiddle with all the cardio i do, but still get winded with a couple flights of stairs but can walk my grandson off the road, heheehee.. gear
zingy, i'm in the same boat you are. I've toned up significantly for the past 6 months watching what i eat (high protein/low carb) but I still have remnants of my teen man boobs that I am trying very hard to get rid of. I eat 2000 cals per day at most, probably more like 1600. I also go to the gym religiously 6 days a week. Tough stuff :\
