cougars and cubs - how young is too young?

Well, lets see what psychologists have to say?? Shall we?

  1. The midlife crisis is a myth—sort of Many believe that men go through a midlife crisis when they are in middle age. Not quite. Many middle-aged men do go through midlife crises, but it's not because they are middle-aged. It's because their wives are. From the evolutionary psychological perspective, a man's midlife crisis is precipitated by his wife's imminent menopause and end of her reproductive career, and thus his renewed need to attract younger women. Accordingly, a 50-year-old man married to a 25-year-old woman would not go through a midlife crisis, while a 25-year-old man married to a 50-year-old woman would, just like a more typical 50-year-old man married to a 50-year-old woman. It's not his midlife that matters; it's hers. When he buys a shiny-red sports car, he's not trying to regain his youth; he's trying to attract young women to replace his menopausal wife by trumpeting his flash and cash.

Great job.. You just decided for him that he can never have children. Wonderful. Trust me at 24, he has no clue as to what he wants.

I still say that when the 40 year old gets older and loses her attraction the 24 year old is still going to look good for alot more years. It might be ok for 5 or 10 years but he is probably going to wake up and ask himself why he is with this old women. It is just a biological fact.

You DO lose your sexual attraction as we age. Live with it.

It could also mean it forced him to mature at an earlier age than most, and he finds women in his peer group to be immature.

Right on !!! Bingo

We've discussed this ad nasuem. HE feels that if he spends ...say 10 yrs with someone and they have a wonderful, loving , supportive relationship, He is NOT going to suddenly, " change his mind" and stop loving me and finding me attractive"

If he does decide to leave, oh well, I've never lacked for suitors and doubt I will at ANY age.

Ok the 40 yr old woman with the 24 yr old fiance is finally chiming in here ! He keeps asking me when we're going to the courthouse, but lifes just been too hectic lately.

somewhat off topic but I wanted to throw this in there to MM..

MM..

Your 24 year old BF who you have only known less than 2 months whom you are engaged to, keeps asking to drag you to the courthouse to marry him any day ?

That doesn't quite sound right..

Have you ever done a background check on him ?.. Not saying that there is anything wrong but you both don't know each other yet and it seems like he is trying to hold onto you by getthing married to you..

He should realize that you don't have to be married for you to love him..

Please make sure you don't just go to the courthouse and marry him on a whim.. make it at least a 6 month or longer engagement.

I don't mean to offend you but I just wanted to point out how it looks from this side of the keyboard and I wouldn't feel right by not saying something.

I do hope all is great with both of you.. especially after his recent health issue and wish you both all the best..

You have known a 24 yr old guy for less than 2 months and believe all this? He has undying love forever, has decided to forgo children, and will never leave you? LOL

Sounds like he is just getting good sex, and thats all he is thinking of at this moment. Jesus, less than 2 months... And he is 24..And he sounds really mature too.. At 40 you should know better.

Is he very desperate begging to marry you after a few weeks? Why the rush if you will be together forever anyway?
