Author redfathom
I do have a prescription for Zanex (for panic attacks) and I do think stress plays a big role in IBS. The funny thing about the ultrasound is that they had the machine in the room and it was already to go, but the doctor said it wasn't necessary, grrr!! So I guess I better call my doctor and see about making yet another appointment. I would have asked for one if I had been given a diagnosis in the office... Sorry to hear about your family members!! Author redfathom
So my urine tests came back except for the micro exam which tests for crystals such as kidney stones. But everything else was negative or normal. I sent a message to my Dr to see if the micro test will tell me if I have kidney stones or if I needed to come back for additional testing...will know more later. Thanks! Author redfathom
So I went to urgent care last night because I was having the dizzy, very tired feeling again. The DR I saw said I didn't have kidney stones because there was no blood in my urine tests, so I still don't know what the pain was. In reference to the other things he said they're too vauge to determine what the cause it. He did say I should do a glucose test, I also am going to the Pulminary Dept because I have been having a tight chest and he said he did hear a little something. His last suggestions kind of pissed me off. He asked me if I have ever been on ani-deppressants and suggested I look into that. He said that when tests are done and they always come back negative that this is a good route to go. It's not completely uncalled for because I do get panic attacks (rarely). But I feel like it's an easy fix to a complicated problem that might not fix anything. He thinks I am just stressed and that is what is causing all my problems.
JamesM
He thinks I am just stressed and that is what is causing all my problems. This is not simply a way to say that it is all in your head. It really can be from stress. Get a book on stress and see the many physical symptoms that can be caused by stress. And if you have panic attacks and take xanax, then there is some substance to this analysis. Doctors do have some intelligence. My wife suffers from lots of aches and pains, and there does seem to be reasons for many. However, I have no doubt that when she is stressed, then the pains may be related. But if I suggest that the symptoms are stress related, I had better be careful! Yet I know (and she has discovered) that some definitely are. Take for example, awhile back she had nausea for months off and on. Finally, her doctor had her do all these tests for gall bladder and bowl and stomach. This was after she had taken a number of meds for it. Anyhow, nothing showed up as positive on the tests. But knowing this may or may not relieve the pain. Interestingly, about the same time, I discovered that Carrageenan can cause alot of nausea for some people. She was in the habit of drinking soy milk every day. The kind she drank had this in it. So she quit, and her nausea went away. My question is...was it because she quite drinking the Silk soy milk or was it because all of the tests came back negative? Who knows. In your case, if all of the tests come back negative, then the doctors will of course link stress to your pain. If the pain comes after any stressful event, then they may have a point. IBS is definitely related to stress. Of course, if the pain is IBS, then you may want to investigate what you eat as well. Many people have allergies to food supplements and chemical that we all eat every day. Some people cannot drink milk because of lactose, etc. Remember...the doctors go home and do not suffer your pain. They only know if their diagnosis is correct if you never come back. However, it is up to you to keep trying remedies...medical or lifestyle changes...until you get better. Think back...is there any connection with this pain to any event or food or activity? whichwayisup
I do know from experience that panic and anxiety can mimick ALOT of other ailments. You actually might benefit from going to see someone who specializes in dealing with anxiety disorders. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It's talk therapy and will teach you how to deal with the anxiety better, learn how to control it instead of it controlling you..
Author redfathom
James, haha...I was getting mad at my hubby yesterday for taking sides with the doctor. I do know that stress can cause IBS and a lot of other things. The pain in my stomach, I don't think it related to stress, the other symptoms, maybe. The pain in my stomach is too severe that there has to be a cause other then anxiety. The other things do seem to be food related, in that I feel tired, dizzy and nauseous after eating in the afternoon, I think it spiked my blood sugar and then crashed. I do plan on going to see my regular doctor after I get these tests done. WWIU, I am able to control panic attacks when they happen (because I know how to recongnize that is what is happening), but I could use some stress management. I have been feeling angry lately... JamesM
I have been feeling angry lately... And why might that be? As for husbands and their suggestions, my wife has realized that I do know her better than she thinks I do. And I have been able through research to find solutions to some of her pains. My suggestion is to work at two fronts. Take the tests and analyze your life. I bought my wife a pain journal when she was having nausea. It helped her see what each day was like. Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0963796801 It is very, very helpful to determining causes for pains and illnesses. I recommend it highly. Search inside and see what detailed questions it asks for each day. My wife was thrilled with it. If you use it when the pains begin, and keep it going for awhile even if you feel healthy, then you may discover what triggers your pains. Don't give up.
