jeffrey33
Do you think the new girl at work likes me? Here are some observations: • Multiple touching of my arm when she is laughing • Not afraid to invade my space • Calling me sweetheart and sunshine • Asking me to feel her head cause she says she feels hot (In the presence of other co-workers) • Multiple silly/flirty emails sent back and forth multiple instances • She makes references to the ‘creepy guys’ that ask her out and email her • Letting me read, and reading to me, emails from guys confessing their love for her then making fun of them together • Doing cartwheels for me • Sitting next to me when there are multiple people gathering • Sticking her tongue out at me when passing my office window I could complicate things by mentioning variables but I want to keep my question generic for now. ed-205
Why are you asking us when you should be asking *her*?!! If a woman behaved like that around me, and I was at least mildly interested in her, I would *definitely* give it a shot. Just remember that there are no guarantees in life, and she *may* be a total Fruitcake, but if what you're saying is true, I think the chances are in your favor.
cybersister
She is so obviously after you . How much more does she need to turn up the volume before you hear her and respond ?
Author jeffrey33
Thanks for the comments! I really appreciate them. Here is some more info on the situation: She is recently divorced, as in finalized, and does not have a boyfriend, thus the 'creeps' pursuing her. Up until yesterday, I had a long term girlfriend. The new girl, I am sure, was aware the whole time that I had a girl friend. She is not in the least bit dumb and seems sharp, so I know she picked up on it. She has only been a co-worker for 6 or so weeks. And in that 6 weeks, the flirting just kept building. (But I feel my list of ‘signs’ above show that the flirting never crossed that ‘line’.) It will be interesting to see if things change, and which way they change, next week when she finds out I am single. I am not sure how to bring that up in a conversation, but I probably won't have to. If I mention my break-up with people at work, word will spread quickly. (But I really don't feel like mentioning it.) Jeff BTW, the split with my long term girlfriend was in the works way before I even knew this new girl existed. It seems to be an awkward coincidence. Although, the new girls flirting motivated me to follow through on a plan I had been procrastinating.... She helped me realize that there just might be another girl out there that I could care about and fall in love with. Is that bad? (And I was starting to feel guilty when the flirting increased and was happening in front of others who knew I had a long term girlfriend. The stomach knots were in the early stages of forming.) Star Gazer
How old is she? Her behavior strikes me like that of an 18 year old.
Jilly Bean
Letting me read, and reading to me, emails from guys confessing their love for her then making fun of them together • Bet for sure that if she is doing this WITH you, she is also doing this TO you. Is she in high school? Like SG said - she behaves like a teenager. Which, I assume you also are?
Author jeffrey33
No high school. She is 30 years old and a single mom. I am older. I know that this might all seem juvenile but we have a playful and humorous relation with one another. She makes me laugh and most women I have been around don't make me laugh like her. She is funny. She is quick. And that is a BIG turn on for me. Besides those facts, she is also cute, and has a very nice body. Especially for a 30 year old mom. She is the type of girl that has no problem getting asked out. Jilly Bean: It HAS crossed my mind that she is stringing me along just like the 'creeps' that are emailing her and that she is letting me read the emails. But the emails are really very pathetic, and I think she knows that I am a little more intelligent and literate than the examples she wishes to share. She makes it quite known to me consistently that there are men interested in her and that she doesn't like any of them. That is the part that I find revealing. Star Gazer: I have a very magnanimous personality. At work, I am well liked by almost every employee, a combination of my personality, position, and sales background. (Not in sales anymore. WHEW!) I understand quite possibly she is nervous around me and doesn't always know what to do with herself. I can write off the high-school antics as confusion and stress. Like the other day when I was walking away from her desk and she threw one of the M&Ms she was eating at me for no reason. She missed and nailed the wall real loud, in front of others, but I just kept walking away, with a big smile on my face. You see, that kinda sh*t makes me laugh. That energy from her makes me MENTAL! I love it! She doesn't treat everyone at work like that , that is for sure. And I am starting to see that other women at work are noticing us 'together' a lot, and a few of my female friends are seeing the flirting.
carhill
So, rebound fling? Fishing in the company pond? Getting in good with someone in a position of power? Lots to think about... Much depends on what you're looking for.... I will say I have to agree with the negative opinions about her behavior, especially in the workplace. Hmmm...
BlueEyedGirl
1) I do all of the above to the guys I don't really like when I'm bored, need an ego boost etc...(slightly more mature version of what she does I might add) 2) Keep in mind that she is new at work and probably tries hard to make friends. She has picked up on your interest and it was convinient to make you work-hang-out-buddy. 3) Further evidence that she has low self esteem and therefore wants an ego boost is reading the e-mails of other guys to you (i.e. look everybody wants me!) 4) One thing that is true in 100% of the cases is that people who make fun of others behind their back to someone they barely know tend to make fun of YOU as well.
