Moved out of state & living in fear mode

Hello all,

This is my first time to post. I guess I'll get right to the point.

I have moved to two different states w/ my boyfriend in the last year & a half & I'm feeling very unstable.

This is the first time in my life that I don't have friends or family to lean on.

Back home I had a wonderful career, many friends, & lifelong roots established in my community.

We are living in a very desolate area & there are not very many full time residents.

My boyfriend is self employed & he works out of the home. We now share a car & go everywhere together.

When out & about he has no problem striking up a conversation w/ just about anybody & I'm a little more reserved(shy). While he's working the crowd , I'm just standing there like a scared little kid. I've got all this negative self- chatter going on in my head & it really bites the big one.

Since we have moved I have become very insecure, fearful, & my self image is shot. I just don't know what to do with myself.

I'm so hungry for companionship. I'm so used to being around my sweet Grandmother, loving friends & neighbors...

It's such a struggle at times, perhaps someone out there in cyber land can offer some insight or friendship or a book that might help.

LadyBug:

Yes a good book would be "Self Matters" by Dr. Phil McGraw

I think you will find it may unlock other doors and give you

answers to your questions.

Good Luck to you!

Take Care!!

I know he's become a cliche by now but I highly recommend Anthony Robbin's books. I think one is called Awaken the Giant Within and the other is Absolute (or Unlimited)Power. If you study his books and apply what he's says to your own problems I find you can't help but begin to feel better.

that's a stinker, moving away from a familiar place where your friends and family are still living, Ladybug.

Have you thought about getting involved in volunteer work in an area you like? Or maybe joining a church or school group? Even taking a class will help open doors to new relationships, like courses offered through local colleges, museums, libraries, clubs, etc.

Don't despair, though, sometimes it just takes a bit longer to feel comfortable in a new place, but getting involved helps a lot.

Hey Ladybug,

I know what it feels like, the way you do....but to make a long response short, Ill tell you this. I would go back to your family, your old town for a weekend or week. Then I would decide from there If you like it too much or if you think you moved on a bit and are ready to let go....remember it takes sometime to meet new people...but If your heart is throbbing and you feel you need to go back, do!
