Author Shygirl15
Maybe because all the 6'+ non-black guys want to date caucasian blondes? Maybe you don't have a preference but maybe your dating pool on E-Harmony does. BTW, I did E-Harmony when I got divorced 3 years ago and I hated it. Well, they should at least let the 6'+ non-black guys see my pictures because I'm sure they would like to re-evaluate their decisions once they do..
rod_in_gtown
Eh, like I said - it was $20 for 3 months. If I meet one cool out of it, it will have been worth it. $20 for 3 months? damn! They want to charge me $99 for 3 months. HA! not happening.

Author Shygirl15
This may be Shygirl's problem. DC has an enormous black population. E-Harmony is not a typical black guy kind of thing, really. I bet if there're even half a dozen black guys from my area.
rod_in_gtown
You can select the race of your matches... That's what I'm saying, the match has to be both ways and if the 6'+ non-black guys are not checking Shygirl's race, then they don't get to see her. That's why she's only getting black guys. (that's my guess anyway)
Jilly Bean
And after seeing some the crap that some guys write, I cant see what type of system was used to match us. Most are guys I cant see myself even having a conversation with, as our views and attitudes are so different. I think they match you with whomever they feel like. It sucks. I don't know, there are a LOT of relationship-minded black guys in the DC metro and many white collar. I know that's the majority here in my office.

Do consider that some people are just not good writers. That doesn't mean that they are incompatible with you. In general women tend to make better writers than men (in the overall majority I mean)

I dunno - maybe if someone was above a 4 in attractiveness, Id overlook some bad prose. lol

rod_in_gtown
Out of 10! lol You're VERY forgiving IMO my dear As for me, I haven't found anyone acceptable on Match, POF or eHarmony. Maybe it's true what someone said to me on another thread, I'm looking for excuses not to date... Maybe I'm too picky, maybe I'm deluded. But I don't think I'm consciously *choosing* to be lonely. No, probably not. You don't come off as too picky. I think it's fair to desire a partner that matches your value. So, the higher up the food chain you go, your pickings get slimmer. I dig myself, and I really am looking for the male of me (Jack Bean). lol. That's not easy to do, as there are many core competencies that are hard for me to bend on. Just makes the search a LOT harder. Sure, maybe some of these guys on eharmony are seriously relationship seeking (I believe they are), but man oh man, its been a total fugly fest. And sorry - beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but I still need someone who can rev my engine.

Jilly Bean
At least POF is free. And there's a reason why... OK, now I wish I hadn't of said that eharmony was bottom feeders, as POF REALLY is! lol OMG - the people are the skankiest I have ever encountered. It's like Craigslist with better photos. Jilly Bean
:lmao: God I love you JB :lmao: Sigh. Im just not evolved enough to date an ugly dude. Its too bad - perhaps if I knew them IRL first, and they were funny, or had killer personalities, I could overlook the trollish bad looks. But without that benefit, they become one-dimensional, and therefore, eliminated. Im a shallow beeyotch, I know.
fral945
I'm not too rigid to match up; I have my preferences and dating a plumber does not happen to be one of them. I have matched up quite easily on other dating sites like Match and Yahoo Personal, so if anything is rigid here it's the E-Harmony matching system. I really wonder if their 'matching up' is based on the details we have put in our profiles; I clearly stated my preference height would be a 6'0" plus, but all my matches are waay below that height. I also didn't put any race preferences, but only black guys have been shoved my way.. ? Their matching in not based on physical traits. I tried it and noticed the same thing. They do state that upfront that their belief is physical is not that important for long term relationships. If you want physical as a factor use another site. You want the 6 footer that makes 6 figures. And that's fine, as long as you realize that you better be smokin'. Those guys have their pick of women, obviously those are traits most any woman would like. They are equivalent to the blondes with big boobs who have their choice of men. Poncho
Someone with a white collar job. It's not about money, I'm looking for a certain intellectual level, which a plumber is unlikely to have. I just need someone I can converse with at the same level. I'm still hung up on this. A blue collar worker can be just as intelligent as a white collar worker. I am blue collar by choice, and am not a dumb person. There is no way I can sit in an office for 8-10 hours a day, it would drive me nuts. I enjoy working with my hands and getting dirty in the process.
