Well my ex and I broke up almost 2 months ago, we dated for about 4 years on and off...

during those 4 years we went to college in a town other than our hometown and both had each other, i made friends and so did she.. now that we are broken up i always find myself sad that im not doing anything or have no one to do anything with..

i have a couple friends that i could go out with and stuff but i want a big group of friends that have something to do all the time and that share my interest.. whenever i go out i see people in groups all having a good time and i want that..

any advice?

I have a few ideas...

I think the first step is for you to be patient with yourself. It takes time to heal, and there are no hard and fast rules on how long it takes.

You have the right idea about getting out among others, and start making new friends. Join a Bowling League, volunteer yourself for charity work. Food banks are always looking for people. Take a part-time job, but not just any job. Something that puts you in contact with people, like being a waiter, or a barrista at a coffee shop. Join a gym, or some other club - Mountain Biking, hiking, etc. Sign up for cooking classes, or maybe an art class. Maybe even look into Toastmasters.

Stay active, and learn to focus your attention on something new. That will help you feel better about yourself, and create opportunities to meet new people, and learn new things.

Heck, sometimes I used to just go to the park and pick up trash, just because it helped me feel better about myself to know that the place was a little nicer because I was there, and it got me out of the house and out among other people.

One day, you will wake up and actually feel OK again. It'll happen!

It sounds like either you should start looking for another gf or you should not worry about friends right now and start to do some creative work that will get you are career or at least a better one. For one, you seem like a good writer. Thats all the advice I have for now.
