catalyst22
Hi all this is my first time posting and I am not even entirely sure I am posting in the right area, here goes. I recently proposed to my gf of nearly a year. She said yes so that is not the problem. The help I need is that she lives in another country than I do. Can anyone help direct me to links or tell me what I need to do to get her to this country(USA) so we can get married?
quankanne
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis is the link to the Immigration and Citizenship services. There's a number you can call, but because it's a nation-wide number, you might have better luck calling a district office (for example, because I'm in ETX, the closest offices would be Dallas and Houston). also check with her country's embassy here in the US. Again, for me, that would be in Dallas. They would probably be the quicker contact people in this case. you can also get hold of an immigration lawyer, but that will most likely get pricey. Or, if you are a college student, check with your school's student services office with the folks who deal directly with foreign students. She might have a better chance getting in on a student visa than a fiancée visa. But the embassy would probably be your best resource on that
Geishawhelk
You also need to be able to prove your intentions are serious, where you plan to live, and if she plans to work. What skills does she have? If she had something set up and in place (and I don't mean a casual holiday job) that would definitely count in her favour.
