whichwayisup
Give him a big hug and go from there. I'm sure he's nervous as well. Just be yourself, ask some questions about his life, your parents growing up as kids, stuff like that. I'm sure he'll be curious to know about your life as well.. Good luck and post back to let me know how the visit was!
Gunny376
Tell me not about your Life, but about how you lived. What advice can you give me that you wished you had known at my age that you know now? What are your fondest memories of your son/daughter ~ my father/mother? When you think of them now, what makes your smile/laugh? What is your favortie type of music, your favortie song, show. What is that you like to do? What is your favortie hobby? Its the same the world just genuially be interested in people and they will be interested in you. Don't walk into a room with the attitude of "Here I am!" but rather with one "Oh! There YOU are!" Use his name and use it often as in Grandaddy John/Williams. Show respect he's earned it (in most cases, but not all)

taiko
Consider yourself lucky. My grandfather was never mentioned I was about 35 when an uncle came back from visiting him. I had always assumed he was dead. Mom still wouldn't talk about him.
MrMe
Its weird to hear and read about stories like this that you never really thought happened except on tv. Im 20 and just met an aunt of mine for the first time earlier this year. My mother (my aunt's sister) is 40 and had never met her either. Turns out my mother has a couple other sisters that she never knew existed.
