SoundTribe
My friend told me yesterday that if I was hurting because of heartbreak that I should start taking Adderall XR. (I have a prescription but haven't taken it in nearly a year.) He said that the euphoric experience that Adderall induces will help me get over my break up in almost no time. Any thoughts about this? zxcirce
Only if you want to be a speed-freak and become addicted to a dangerous controlled substance. Sure, that'll make your heartbreak look like nothing in comparison.

I don't know what adderall is or what it's prescribed for, but it sounds serious!
Author SoundTribe
Adderall is a commonly prescribed stimulant medication for people with ADD or ADHD.
bubblegum
Why did you stop taking it? I wouldn't start taking it again unless you need it for ADD or ADHD, and relying on ANY substance -- prescription, alcohol, non-prescription -- ANYthing at all to get through an emotional crisis is NOT GOOD and is asking for trouble down the line. And the only real way to get over someone is to feel the pain and move through the steps of heartache. It sucks, but it's true. Just like a physical injury, there's no quick pill to take to get over a broken leg, your body has to go through all the steps to heal and become strong again.
Author SoundTribe
i have a long story with adderall. Basically it changed my life for the better when I started taking it in 10th grade. Then I became popular and stopped taking it. And then my life declined until my girlfriend broke up with me in college.Thats also why I'm thinking about getting back on it. bubblegum
You should visit your doctor and have them evaluate whether or not you should get back on it.
Ariadne
Hi, I agree with that. The guy I love stopped talking to me a few weeks ago, and ever since then I've been smoking weed. I really feel great and all the negative feelings are gone. Be careful with Adderall though, that thing can give you a heart attack.
ioncebelieved
If they prescribed a medication to stop heartbreak, I would be the first down at the docs office to get some. Sorry to say that will not help! I have Vicodin for an injury that I have taken for several months and it dulls the hell out of me.... certainly does not stop or put that shattered heart of mine back to right! Heartbreak is NO joke!!! Damn shame we have to have such loving relationships only to suffer from heart break!
matt367
no offense but your friend is pretty stupid. Im on Adderal as we speak(and in the school library) and if anything it will make you focus on the breakup more as thats what it does, makes you focus. Dont take it to get over someone, only time and new experiences will cure you not adderal.
