WELL I THINK THAT IT'S OK IF YOU GET IT AT 14 IF YOU KNOW YOU REALLY WANT IT. I AM 15 AND I JUST GOT MINE PIERCED A WEEK AGO. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED IT PIERCED AND NO ONE WAS GOING TO STOP ME. I DON'T THINK IT'S NASTY NOW GETTING YOUR PRIVATE PARTS PIERCED IS NASTY.

P.S. anyone out there who has their nose pierced, does it hurt A TON?! Please if you could describe what it felt like.

HOLY COWWWWW: Once again this thread only serves as an example of how eachother picks through one anothers quotes..... or advice or responses..... and overlooks the posters request for advice.....

NOW:

#1 to answer your question of does it hurt...... YES... and depending on your pain threshold it can hurt like hell especially if it gets infected which im sure if you get it done youll experience at least once.....

#2 Iam the mother of a 14 year old girl that has her nose pierced and before I took her to get it done.... I got her to do some research into it risks etc...... she still chose to get it done and i didnt deny her right to "express herself" per say.....

#3 I have my nose pierced as well as my tongue and my ears.... I chose to get these done because I find them attractive..... I dont care WHAT other people think of how i look..... HOWEVER I also Work in a MANAGEMENT position in a Company Chain here in Canada..... I came across an incident where yes its against company policy to have facial piercings BUT for some reason Nose piercings were the exception...... I also changed my stud to a hoop to see exactly what kind of a response I would get from my area manager..... she did ask me to take it out and replace it back with the tiny diamond stud that was in it previous.... I had no problem with this whatsoever as i chose to work in a company that YES they do have a policy against it BUT they also have made exceptions which is showing me that their level of tolerance regarding piercings is slowly changing....... EXAMPLE....... ME!!

Well I myself have 4 piercings and three tattoos and I've merely begun. Some people view them as pointless and disturbing..I view them as art each tattoo tells something about me. GWEN do what you feel is right..if you ever change your mind its as easy as taking it out...but if you ever want a tattoo I suggest you really think about it because their forever.

i'd just like to say i think the worlds changed alot from when some of you were young. mind you i do know that i may still be judged for having my nose ring and there may be times like when i do my clinical placements (yes i'm a student nurse) where i may have to wear a clear stud etc. but getting a piercing should mean something to the person that is getting it.

and it dose kinda hurt but its not to bad after the initial pain, and your eyes will tear up but there's nothing you can do about it

Enjoy

It's my understanding that the 'nose' being mostly cartilage does not have enough nerve cells to cause too much pain or bleeding.

Piercings aren't MY personal thing.....but I do have a 14 year old daughter and realize each generation needs to make their own statement. If it makes you feel good about yourself.....by all means....go for it. If you regret it later.....the hole will heal.

Please take advantage of the advice to seek out a professional to pierce you and make sure you follow all the cleanliness rules.....and get help immediately in case of an infection.

Your SHACKER MOM.......

Arabess LOL!!!!

I am a Christian and a mom of three ages 5, 3, and 1. I just had my nose pierced last week.

In regards to Christians thinking piercings are wrong...the Bible says the Abraham gave Rebekah a gold nose ring ing Gen. 24:22. The controversy may lie in 1 Peter 3:3-4 where it says beauty should come from the inner self not of wearing jewelry.

I believe my beauty comes form within...what I do on the outside is of truly no consequence. Several of the pastors at my church are covered in tat's and piercings....I belive God is not as concerned with such things as some judgemental people would like to think!

Come on, everyone who has ever had a piercing somewhere other than their ears uses this cliche. What are you expressing by wearing a nose ring? What are you expressing when you dye your hair blue?

So what are you expressing by having your ears pierced?

So judging someone for any other reason would make my opinion regain its worth? You must live in a dream world because people are judging you for your piercings and the way you look everyday whether you like it or not. Call us stiffs, but we are just trying to get this young girl to understand the negative consequences something as "simple" as this can have on her life. If she wants to do it, does it really matter what ANY of us say to her? Shes gonna do it anyways. Maybe things will work out for her with the ring, maybe they won't. She will never really know until she trys it out and learns from her mistakes.

I wish you could see this in the right perspective - WHETHER SHE HAS A PIERCING OR NOT DOES NOT AFFECT ANYONE IN ANY WAY!!! It's only a "mistake" because uptight asswads like yourself cannot internalise this simple truth. Jesus!

Gwen, you go ahead, dear, and get that piercing. Let all these other dead fish drift along with the flow, till they reach the sea.

Hmm, this was months ago now. Gwen, didja get your nose pierced?

Interestingly enough, I was think about getting mine done, but I think I won't. I don't take that well to piercings. I'll just stick to tattoos.

But Gwen, honestly, I do think 14 is very young to be getting a nose ring. I'm 24 now and grew up in such a conservative household that when I was a teenager, I wanted so badly to get piercings and stuff to rebel. But then I was patient and realized how dumb that would have been. (The tattoos came later, and I'd always thought of them as art.) Then again, you can always take piercings out if you change your mind, though you will have a little "pore" thing left over. I have 14 year old cousins, and I'd be shocked if I saw them with nose rings. But that's just me. My advice would be to wait a while.
