steffany
I come with a lot of emotional baggage from many things in my past. Without getting into all that...because I finally decided I needed to talk about all of this with my bf last week. And all we do is talk and talk and try and help get me past all this. And boy do I want to. So badly that I want to seek counceling for the first time in my life that isn't for ADHD. Well, I am living pay check to pay check. Where can people without a lot $$ find therapy? Maybe there are some organizations that don't cost an arm and a leg. I have no idea. And I don't know where to look. Anyone have any suggestions? I take that back I looked up and found RAINN and someother organization. But before I call and request help on a budget maybe you guys know of a place.
yes
i don't know how you could get your hands on them, but recent graduates and phd students would charge WAY less, especially if they still haven't gotten their license or just got it... -yes

quankanne
check the local women's shelters and see who they refer people to; also try the Houston Chronicle online and see if they have any reference links listed on their site. Other good places, doctors offices, churches, even Parents Anonymous or the county probation office. You should be able to come up with a few leads for the help you need that's provided on a sliding scale basis.
HokeyReligions
http://www.mhagh.org/sitemap/index.html This site contains links to dozens of other places in the Houston area. You might find something here. Try your United Way.
Author steffany
Not sure if I'm ready to go that extra step yet but I'm on my way. I have dealt with my problems through my own knowledge of psychology. Since I went to college for child psychology it hasn't been terribly hard. But just like life; it's easier said than done. And I'm at a point that worries me. Like a loss of childhood memories. But sooner or later I will take the step needed and get in therapy. Probably sooner than later. I have a relationship in it this time.
Hunter
Most churches have counsellors or even pastors that you can go and talk to. I am not a church goer, but I found this one church and they have been helping me out and the cost is nothing. It is the Catholic Family Services organization. Or contact the Family Serivce branch in your town or city. Best of luck to you.
